Question about Air Tools & Compressors

Bostitch 16 guage straight nailer jambs every nail

I am using the right guage nails. In fact they are the ones that came in the case with the gun. 2". I have the proper amount of air pressure. I have fired less than 100 nails through this gun. Whats the problem? Is it just that big of a piece of junk?

Tip of your piston may be damaged... or the feeder system is not bringing the nail fully into position. You may have to file the rail to correct any damage that a jam may have caused

SOURCE: My finish nail guns, 16 ga won't fire.

There is a little plastic piece inside above the trigger...usually this breaks. It touches a microswitch when the cylinder is closed all the way, allowing the nail to fire.

What degree nails are used in stanley bostitch n60fn nail gun

I've repaired many nail guns and I can tell you the Stanley Bostitch N60FN uses 15 guage nails from 1 1/4" to 2 1/2" long in the FN1500 series of Bostitch nails. Nowhere does SB or any of their aftermarket dealers list what the angle of the nails is. I do know most of the SB nail guns that come through for repairs are because of damage to them from using other than SB series nails.

In most nail guns the piston o-ring is the problem. Inspect the o-ring for any signs of damage and in some cases the o-ring has a manufacturer defect.

first make sure you are using the right guage nails. then I would look at the condition of the driver to make sure not bent, also look for a broken nail in the magazine area which will also cause this, lastly does the piston/driver "fall" in the cylinder?? there should be some resistance against the o ring, if not then it could also cause your described problem,

I bought a used Bostitch nail gun. Model/serial # N6408406208021. What parts do I change to go from a 1 1/2 inch nail (approx. #6) to a 3 inch nail (approx. #16)? Where do I get the parts?

I do not think that the n64 will take a 3" nail. N64 will most likely fit a 2 or 2 1/2 inch. To verify the length of nail open latch door and measure the width of the slot into the barrel. Take a look at the bostitch n80 series of nailers for more power and longer nail.

My nail gun will not shoot nails any suggestions?

could be several problems, are you using the right guage nails, is there a nail jammed in the nose assembly, is the driver bent or broken, I would look for a jammed nail first and if none then I would remove the cap and check the condition of the cylinder and piston. they have a bad habit of breaking the driver blade loose from the piston

if u are right nails for gun, then make sure when u put coil in and feed in front of firing pin the nails are straight with pin and connecting wires are not bent causing nails to fall out of alingnment.
