Question about Steam Fast SF-661 Iron

1 Answer

I have a steamfast steamer that is tripping the circuit breaker. Any ideas why?

I have used the iron for about 6 months successfully. Now, everytime I plug it in, it trips the circuit breaker in our bathroom outlet. I'm not sure if I should try it in another outlet or if it is unsafe. The hairdryer works just fine in the same outlet.

You check the wiring inside which may have short circuit, then the connector for filament which get short.

Iron not working no power nolights

check the circuit breaker in the main fuse box in case a breaker has tripped.
check the fuse in the power plug, if it is no good replace it.
Try the iron in another socket /outlet in case the one you are using is faulty.

I have a Bosch b52l iron, when i turn on the steam button, it cuts off the power, what could it be

It could be the iron itself (it may have a short circuit in it) and the circuit breaker trips when the steam switch is turned on.

Option 1)
Another option is that the entire circuit that that circuit breaker is controlling is overloaded. What other outlets / applicances / lights are disabled when that circuit breaker trips? You may have to iron only when those other applicances on that circuit are not being used.

Option 2a) Your outlet may be damaged and causing your circuit breaker to trip when the high current STEAM setting is set.
- OR -
Option 2b) the circuit breaker is damaged and is tripping too easily. Only replace with a similarly sized circuit breaker (15 amp lis likely but is says right on the breaker).

Try the solutions in that order.

Trips circuit breaker after 10 minutes of use

This iron is 1500 watts. On a 120 volt breaker, that's about 12.5 amps. Check to see what else is on this breaker. A 1500 watt space heater or a washing machine combined with this iron will pop a 15 or 20 amp breaker.

Steam iron trips the main fuse

It could be your iron drawing too much current but it sounds more likely that you have a weak circuit breaker on that circuit. You might try the iron on a different house circuit to confirm if its actually the iron or the house breaker giving you problems.

The ps 300 will not heat although the on light is on

I bought one of these units at a Salvation Army Store still in the box brand new. I experienced the same problems (power was lit, but the breaker would trip and turn unit off). I opened the unit up and since I have knowledge of circuits, I bypassed the breaker (trips when it reaches a predetermined temp). I did however add a CRUCIAL electrical component that makes this possible an keeps your house from burning down - a added a simple dial thermostat (like one from a single electric plug-in coil stove top). Bottom line, I took on this project moreless for fun and I would NOT RECOMMEND anyone try this unless you have some knowledge about electrical circuits.
