Question about Frigidaire FEX831CS Top Load Stacked Washer/Dryer

1 Answer

My Frigidaire FEX831FS overflows on all water level settings. How do I check the water pump filter to clean and look for clogs etc?

I would like to know how to check/clean the water pump filter for clogs etc. I want to see if this is the problem first then check the actual pump for failure etc. What is your suggestion so I can do it myself before calling someone?

Hello clarksurf211 - Usually this type of information is not release to someone who is not a technician (or to a consumer) and it is very rare to find enough information to do it yourself. In most cases this information can be found on the internet; however it is not provided directly from the manufacturer. Typically this is something that you want a certified professional to install for you due to safety and liability reasons. They also usually warranty their labor just in case something else may turn out to be the root cause of your initial problem and it does work out better to your advantage. Consider contacting your manufacturer for more details on who in your area can properly repair/install this part. (part usually have a 30 day warranty with tech). I would suggest contacting your manufacturer to provide you a listing of authorized technicians in your area whom may guide you through this process.

For that model you should just be going through the front. There are 2 phillips screws at the bottom of the front panel. After you remove those, you will need to slide the front panel down. (sometimes insreting a large flat head screw driver between the top washer panel and the front washer panel will help ease it off). The pump on this one is one of the easier one's to clean. Use a shop vacume or just bail the water out by hand to remove as much as possible. Follow the large black hose running down from your tub to the white plastic looking peice. That is your pump. The are 2 5/16 screws holding it down. Remove these to make your work easier and cleaner. Also remove the connector/ wires that plug into the side of the pump. Once removed raise your pump up and slide a large, flat container underneath. Squeeze the clamp on the hose and slide it further back up the hose. Now, SLOWLY start working the hose off in a rocking motion. Just a little pressure here. Now as it strats to work off, the rest of the water will start to come out. Drain it a little at a time. Work the hose back on if you have to go empty your container. Once all of the water has been removed, pull the hose the rest of the way off. Do you see anything blocking it? No? Remove the hose coming back out of the pump as well. Still nothing? Try removing the hose that goes between the tub and the pump up by the tub this time. Nothing yet? Try plugging the pump back in and setting it to a spin/ drain cycle. (make sure you are not on the part of the cycle that adds water or there will be a mess) Once you are on the spin/ drain cycle, look into the pump. Is the paddle wheel looking piece inside moving? If it is not, and there are no forign objects in there, it may be time to replace the pump itself.

Do not blow to the switch. Blow from the switch to the tub. The blockage is soap scum in the air bell on the side of the tub. You may have to run a small wire into the tub area where the air hose attaches on the side of the tub.

SOURCE: my washer will not drain the water and the spin-Model ATF6000FS1

I had the same problem but bought a new washer. As we were parting this washer out we found that there is a black rubber boot the attaches to the water pump. There is a filter inside of this boot and it was clogged with hair, string, and almost 2 bucks in change. No wonder it wouldnt drain. Check yours and see if thats your problem too!

Most likely, the drain pump is clogged or the filter for the main pump is clogged with goo. If, during the drain cycle, water is just "peeing" into the drain line or sink drain, something is clogged. Broken glass, food, bones, etc., can find a way into the main pump mech or into the drain pump. You didn't specify what model washer you have but check the round removable filter found in a lot of Frigidaire dishwashers. Yours could be square, rectangular, etc. Get the users manual if you need help finding out how to clean the filter! Remember, if water can't move freely through the filter, your washer won't spray strongly either. Also, dishwashers will not drain out every drop of water--they will drain past where you can see the water but there will always be a small puddle of water in the motor. This keeps the seals moist and prevents dry-rotting, cracking and leaking.

Why has the circulation flow decreased

Your pump pushes "Unfiltered" water thru the Filter. Your filter then "Cleans / Filters" all of the microscopic particles of dirt out of the water. This will eventually clog your filter as the pressure will then obviously climb. Basically, doing the job it was intended to do! As this occurs the water flow will be reduced and at times, dramatically! The fix: clean the cartridges, backwash your sand or D.E. Filter.

Another possibility is the flow is restricted due to another type of clog: Plugged pump impeller, clogged & dirty skimmer or pump baskets, etc.

Or low water level. Sucking air with water.

The water is not draining from the bottom of my fdb2810ldc1 dishwasher

Hi
Dishwasher not draining issue usually occurs due to kinked drain pipe, clogged drain filter or drain pump. First make sure that the drain is not clogged and remove clogs if present. If no visible lint is present then remove the lower front access panel to check the drain filter and drain pump for any clogs, you'll need to clean the drain filter and drain pump completely. Also, check for any food pieces stuck near the pump impeller & clean the chopper assembly. Please note that dishwashers don't drain out the complete water such that heating element doesn't overheat. Hope this helps... Please post back for any further assistance.

Dishwasher does not clean dishes, water level sems to be low are there filters that can be cleaned as i am on a well

There may be a screen filter in the end of the hose where the water supply is connected to the water inlet valve. Turn the water off and disconnect it to clean it out.

The water level can be affected by the overflow float switch. It is in the bottom of the tub and as the water level rises it floats the switch till it shuts the water off. Pushing it down should let the water come in more. It may need cleaning.

Water will not drain out

Check the drain filter located at the bottom of the wash tub. Clean if clogged. The pump noise could be due to non availability of the washed water continuously due to clog.

Clean the drain filter. Check the final drain output after the pump(hose) for free flow if you have connected it to a drain system.
