You either have bought a bad cartridge, or are using a generic or
refilled cartridge, or have damaged the contacts in the carriage
Replace the same cartridge again only make sure you use a new Canon cartridge. If this does not help, either the contacts in the carriage assembly are bad or the main board has bit the dust.
Repairing the contacts would require you to remove the upper case so you can access the contacts, remove the ink cartridge and streighten out the contacts before reinstallig the cartridge.
The contacts are located at the front of the carriage assembly under the ink cartridge.

After several attempts to get a Lexmark printing again, I tried using household ammonia as a soak for the printhead of the catridge. I once serviced printers of all kinds and most of the integrated cartridge/printhead types responded well to window cleaner and blotting with a lint-free paper towel but the Lexmark only got partially clean doing this.
The ammonia solution did the trick in only about a half-hour of exposure and subsequent blotting showed good ink flow.
Yeah, it stinks and it is better to cover the container you use with an inverted bowl so you don't choke.
