icp sensor, definitly. you can get to it but you have to go from the bottom. remove the trans filler tube, and lower the the trans slightly, then you can remove the turbo heat shield and get to the sensor, you will need a 1 1/16" 12 point crows foot socket for the sensor its self.
SOURCE: when cold, it idles rough, revs high then low! After warmed up it runs fine
if it runs high when you first start it then mellows out,, theirs no problem , all of our chevys do that.... but if its sputtering or you hear a quiet popping noise check spark plugs

you need to get it scaned.auto zone will do it for free but most of the time it a o2 sensor or coolant sensor

SOUND LIKE THE ECM IS HUNTING FOR THE IDLE LOOK FOR A VACUME LEAK IN OR AROUND INTAKE MANIFOLD , ITS KINDA TRICKY BUT A CAN OF CARB SPRAY CAREFULLY AROUND YTHE AREA CAN PINPOINT THE LEAK BUT GET A HELPER WITH A FIRE EXT TO HELP JUST IN CASE IF IT DOSNT REV UP WHEN YOU SPRAY THE LEAK AREA THEN YOUV GOT TO GET IT ON A SCANNER TO CHECK IT OUT WE USALLLY CHARGE ,5 HRS TO DO THIS SO ITS NOT REAL EXPENSIVE GOOD LUCK
Engine stalls or RPM
fluctuates at idle up and down or dies near idle.
This problem is commonly caused by a dirty automatic idle speed control valve and throttle valve but always run a OBD2 fault code as well as the cleaning procedure. Buy a can of throttle valve cleaner (do not use carburetor spray cleaner!) from NAPA or Carquest (made by CRC chemicals) and spray it into the air intake while the engine is running, use up about 1/2 the can, engine will try to stall hold the speed up, shut it down and let it soak for 30 minutes, restart and blow out the remaining fluid, shut it down and disconnect the negative battery cable for 5 Min's to reset the base idle control
