Difficulties Backing Up Qucikbooks

When we attempt to backup our program, we reach a point where a notice comes up saying that we do not haver permission from the administrator to continue. For a period of time we were able to backup our work until this problem developed. What has happened and how do we correct it?

Right click on the program when starting and select run as administrator. That should give you all the permissions and you shouldn't get the error.

I have a dell E4300 laptop when i backup it it does not fully backup then how to backup the files on it and how to restore?

It's probably backing up pictures, music, documents, etc. There's probably a setting where you can check off what you want to back up. If not, find another backup program. There are some excellent freeware programs, including "File Synchronizer." from Karaosoft.

Tip

Backing Up Windows Registry

Backing up the windows registry is good practice.
There are two methods to back up your Windows registry.
1. Using the built-in Windows semi-automated tool.
Go to Start
Select All Programs
Then select Accessories
Then select System Tools
Then select System Restore
Follow the instructions to Create a Restore Point. With the restore point, you can revert your entire machine back to a point in time.
2. Using the Window Registry editor.
Go To Start
Select Run
Type in "Regedit" into the text box and hit the Enter key
To create a backup, select File
Then select Export
Name the file, I always use today's date
select all for export range,
Save somewhere you can find I use a Flash Disk
Steps to restore your registry to this backup
1. Find File on Flash Drive
2. Double click it and confirm that you want to change the registry.

I have a hp desktop computer product number AyO188AA Model P6310f its says backup files and slow down my computer what are the possible cause

Is your computer doing an operating system back up
while a computer is backing up files it is using at least 60% of it computing power therefore it is short of resources for other programs.
Myself I use a cloud server to store my valuable files these are the only ones I backup never do I do a system backup as it is easier to do a full windows install than try to do a backup install

Back up 50% took 10 hours still backing up. should it take this long?

That depends on how much data you are backing up, and the speed of your connection. Also some providers will automatically throttle down your speed once you reach a certain amount of data. The only thing you normally need to backup are documents and pictures. It sounds like you might have started a full system backup that will also include the operating system.

The Windows Backup and Restore feature allows you to save files and system images to external backup devices such as hard drives and flash drives. However, backing up files become problematic if the directory your backing up files from isn't configured properly, or if you're having issues with the devices you're backing files to. There are ways to solve or work around backup problems quickly and safely.

Hard Drive b> A backup will not complete if the files you're backing up exceed the amount of space left on the external hard drive. If you're backing up large system files, Microsoft recommends saving the backup to an external hard drive that can hold at least 200 GB. If you're running out of space, you must delete content to create space for others or use another hard drive. Error Codes In some cases, Windows displays the following error codes when it's unable to complete a backup: "0x80070001 (Invalid Function)" or "0x81000037: Windows Backup failed while trying to read from the shadow copy on one of the volumes being backed up." These error messages usually appear if Windows is unable to backup a specific library or if you opt out of adjusting your backup settings and settle for the default settings in the Windows Backup and Restore Feature. Reparse Point b> If you're unable to backup a specific library and run into error code messages, removing the reparse point allows you to complete the backup. A reparse point is a file that contains information about the user on a computer. If it doesn't point to a location that contains some of the data you want to backup, error messages appear when you try to back up your files. Type "CMD" in the Start Search box to open the Command Prompt. In the Command Prompt, typing "DIR /AL /S" and pressing Enter lists the reparse points. Each entry says "JUNCTION," which also means reparse point. The entries also tell you the location of the reparse points in Windows Explorer. If you locate a specific reparse point in Windows Explorer, delete its mounted volume from the device's Properties. Once deleted, you should be able to back up your files. Discs b> If you're backing up files to a disc, you'll run into problems if the discs are non-rewritable and already contain data, or if they are severely scratched or damaged. Non-rewritable discs can only be used once, while rewritable discs can be used to read and write data several times. If the CD or DVD you're using is severely scratched, the optical disc drive spins harder than usual in an attempt to read it. If it's incapable of reading the disc, the backup feature may freeze or display an error.
Windows backup or restore errors 0x80070001, 0x81000037, or 0x80070003

Hello and thank you for using Fixya's services.

This problem happens quite a bit with Windows Vista. It seems that Windows Vista puts a hidden file in the backup; which locks the device.

Open the external device (Windows 7 is fine). Click on "view hidden folders and files." Delete any hidden files you may have in the external.

Go back to "my computer" and right click on the external hard drive letter. Choose properties and security tab. Make your user-name as a main user (administrator) and disable the read only.

Reboot the computer and see if this works.

Please let me know if you have any questions.
