Most dc o7 do require a little wd40 at the hinges however if problem isn't fixed try looking and making sure all the peices are snapped in like they're supposed to be. hope this helps

SOURCE: Brush roller won't turn

On my Dyson, there is a brush reset button on the top right hand side (if you are looking at the front) that you can press to reset the brush. I was vacuuming and too lazy to move a toy and this worked for me once I freed the rope from the brush.

I bought a dyson DC14 hepa with no brush bar can i use it on wooden floors

Hi there,
Actually yes you can. The hard floor setting is the same as the carpet setting only it doesn't spin the brush roller. Running the vacuum without the roller will have roughly the same effect.
If you want to buy and install a roller I have made a video to show you how to fit one in your DC07.
Click here to go to my DC07 webpage. There is a link on that page called

How do I check the clutch or brush roller of my Dyson DC07?. (video)

that is the one to choose to see how you could install a new roller.

If you want to purchase a roller online check out vacuumspot or Nelson Vacuums.

Finally if this was a helpful answer please take a moment to give it a rating (a really good one pls)

Dc07 brush will not spin

Hi there, The problem is likely to be
a) The selector on the front of your machine is set to hard floors
b) The bearings in your brush roller are jammed - Just buy new ones
c) the clutch to motor belt (this vacuum has 2 belts) is broken.
I have made a youtube video of how to check the clutch and brush.
If you need parts or filters you an go to vacuumspot.com.au or nelsonvacuums.com.au
Hope this helps :)
oh also if this is helpful please take the time to write a review or give me a thumbs up

My purple and red Dyson has become hard to push. Could a belt have broken?

It's simple to tell if a belt has broken. Just switch the machine on and have a look (look, don't feel) to see if the brush roller is rotating. If it is, then the belt is not broken.
Depending on how much use your machine has had, it's quite likely that the brushes on the brush roller are worn to the point where you need a new brush roller.  Most vacuum cleaners rely on rotation of the brush roller to pull them along, so if the bristles are too short this doesn't happen.
I hope this helps. Please remember to rate this response.

Loud noise

Hi.

Check brush roller for any obstructions. Turn the 3 plastic screws to unlock position & lift off sole plate so you can see the brush roller now check you can rotate it by hand.

If it is difficult to move look for something jamming roller if no signs of obstruction check brush roller bearings. If roller bearings are siezed new roller will fix this.

If you cant find any problems with the roller then you will require A new clutch unit to be fitted.

This can be done at home but it does involve a lot of stripping machine down far to much to tell you on here so try this site for help. http://dc07.atspace.com/

No suction when vacuming floors

Hi.

There are 2 types of Dc07 one is clutched & has two belts the second has only one belt going from motor to brush roller.

Lay machine on its side pull back handle as if you are to vac carpet switch machine on look to see if brush roller is spinning.

If it is not spinning unplug machine from mains supply & remove the sole plate by turning the three plastic screws to unlock position, Lift sole plate away if you have non clutched machine you will now see the brush roller with A belt going from this to the motor shaft belt may have snapped or come off so replace it.

If your Dyson has A clutch unit this engages the brush roller when you pull the handle back to vacuum.

Check the clutch control knob which is at the bottom left side of machine looking from the front.
It should rotate to drive position when handle is pulled back.

If it doesnt turn the knob by hand to drive.

If you still have no brush rotation after doing all this then either the clutch is faulty or the second belt which goes clutch to motor has snapped & will need replacing.

There are service manuals available for these repairs at this site

Dyson DC07

Hi.

Depending on wether your machine has A clutch fitted will decide how easy this job will be.

The non clutched model is very simple turn the 3 plastic screws on sole plate to unlock position lift plate off remove belt from motor shaft & lift out brush roller.
Replace belt & roller fit sole plate & its done.

The clutched version will require the removing of the sole pate,
Then remove brush roller. & brush roller housing.
Then remove clutch cover,
Replace both belts & reassemble.

Its A lot to explain in great detail so try this site if your struggling.

Dyson DC07 Vaccum - brush will not turn

Hi.

Your Dyson has A clutch unit this engages the brush roller when you pull the handle back to vacuum.

Check the clutch control knob which is at the bottom left side of machine looking from the front.
It should rotate to drive position when handle is pulled back.

If it doesnt turn the knob by hand to drive & try the machine.

If you still have no brush rotation after doing all this then UNPLUG machine from mains supply.
Now lay machine on its side & remove the sole plate, This is the cover over the brush roller.
Turn the 3 plastic screws to unlock postition & lift sole plate off.

Now try to yurn brush roller using your hand. It should turn freely if it is difficult to turn look for any foriegn object obstructing the roller.

If no obstruction found then remove the brush roller from the machine & check the bearings in the ends of the brush roller one or both may be siezed up if they are then new brush roller will solve the problem.

If bearings are good then either the clutch is faulty or the second belt which goes clutch to motor has snapped & will need replacing.

It is difficult to fully explain the clutch removing procedure,
But there are service manuals available for these repairs at this site

Beater bar does not work dyson DC07

If the beater bar does not spin freely, and the belt still seems to be in place, then you may not need a new clutch, but you may need to reset the clutch.  This is done very simply by keeping the beater bar section of the vacuum flat on the floor and reclining the handle all the way to the floor so the entire vacuum lays flat. There is a mechanism in the vacuum which resets the clutch. You will probably not hear anything when the clutch resets.  I sat on the phone for an hour and a half to hear this simple technique is built into the vacuum, but excluded from all instructions and website customer service information.
