Power keeps cutting off. stays on for 3 seconds

Could be either a problem with the amp or a bad voltage regulator. Hard to tell without checking some things inside.

Hi my denon avr 2801 keeps cutting out whilst playing CDs on the dvd1500. I keep noticing the lock light flashing on and off and the receiver flicking between analogue and digital. How can I stop this?

That is a classic hint that the digital bitstream is corrupted for some reason. Optical cables must have tight connections and no kinks or small-radius bends in their run.

Can i connect bose 901 to denon avr891? with 901 eq that required "tape monitor '

Two problems:

1) You have no specific Front Right and Left Pre-Outs. Using the available DVR Out, for example, would feed mixed-down stereo full voume programming instead of volume-controllable Front Channel-only output.

2) If you had them you would still need a separate amp for the 901's as its Active EQ is unsuitable for 'normal' non-901 speakers and engagement of any analog processor in an analog tape loop (like DVR Out/In) would effectively kill any digital source. It WOULD only work for analog sources.

Hi there. I am trying to get my subwoofer to work with my denon 791 receiver. I have played around with a lot of the settings and cranked up the subwoofer volume on the actual sub but nothing is coming...

It's not THAT easy. First, turn the volume down. We don't troubleshoot with maximum volume.

The receiver has to know about the sub and be configured to send some, if not all, bass t o it, then the levels have to be adjusted.

The manual for the avr791 is here:

http://www.retrevo.com/support/Denon-AVR-791-Receivers-manual/id/23693ag505/t/2/

You're going to need to be very familiar with it.

Starting at page 6 the manual talks about the automatic setup.

When they talk about defining the other speakers as Large vs Small later on, what they mean is not the literal Size, but if the speaker can reproduce bass or not.

I don't know what your sub is so maybe you could refere to ITS manual or find it at retrevo.com

Has power but keeps switching to standby

Disconnect all speakers at the receiver and turn it back on, if it stays on post a comment and I will help you troubleshoot further. If it still cuts out, it needs to go to service for repair. Hope this helps.

Hi My denon avr 2600 keeps clips when turn on

Check the polarity (+/-) of the speaker wires. A typical receiver will try to cut the power to the speaker if it's feeding it too much power or too little power to preserve the speaker and/or receiver. That may be the clipping you're hearing. If the wires are reversed, this can cause the same thing.

Protection circuit activating. Possibly a shorted amplifier channel or power supply fault. Take it to a Denon repairer
