Hp dv7 power supply beeping, wont charge

Today i noticed a faint beeping noise coming from the power supply (the little box part) for my laptop. It stopped charging and i need my laptop to take my online tests for school, the end of the semester is in 2 weeks!! Is there any quick fix to this problem?

The battery is good. I don't wish to purchase a new power supply. I read somewhere online that this is cause by a short in the line. Have little to none tech exp. Can't find a video showing how to split the wire and reconnect properly. If you can find a video on how to fix this issue or step by step directions it'd be much appreciated!!!

If the adapter is faulty you need a new one.
Check power adapter's DC plug that connects into the laptop power socket with a multi-meter, the voltage should be slightly higher than the voltage that is printed on the label on the bottom of the adapter. If the voltage is zero or way below the voltage that is printed on the label then the power adapter is faulty and needs to be replaced.

SOURCE: HP NX9600 wont power up.

Hello,

The Compaq NX 9600 is rather a complicated and somewhat notorious problem child. One of HP's better ideas, and a good one when it is working.

Disconnect Power adapter from PC
Remove Battery
Hold down power on button for 30 seconds
Remove both memory modules, Stot1 and Slot2.
Re-install battery
Re-connect power adapter
Attempt to reboot.
If nothing happens the book says replace the motherboard which is very pricey.

email me @ businessimprovementgroup@msn.com and give me and update as I don't visit this site often.

SOURCE: The AC Adapter makes a beeping noise and doesn't charge the batt.

I would verify that the battery will take a charge. If the battery is bad, the charger will tell you that it is not charged. It will not tell you why, just that it is not charged. If not plugged into the computor, again, battery is not charged. Hence, the beep.

Good Luck and hope this helps.

SOURCE: My hp pavillion dv7600 is not charging.

Time to replace the battery. 1.5 to about 2 years is typical life for most laptop batteries. You can extend that but most people typically don't get more than 2 years.
You should do a search for the battery online as you can save a ton by shopping around. For example I have a Toshiba laptop I need a new battery and was shopping around. From Toshiba the battery is $202 from several other places it was $35 and up with a 3 year warranty. The cheapest place was AMAZO...com something sounded like that river in south america you know the Amazon. Not that I'm recommending anyplace. You can find local places that may be close to that price so that can save on shipping.

SOURCE: I have a HP dv7-1240us. My power supply went bad.

Was the new one that you purchased from HP? If so, then did the model numbers of the old one match the new one you bought? If the new one isn't an HP power supply, then that could be the reason why it won't charge your battery. Some of the "after market" power supplies will be enough to run the computer, but they aren't all able to charge the battery. It could also be the DC Jack on the motherboard that has gone bad. If you are not familiar with de-soldering a component from a motherboard, then you may want to think twice before attempting it. You will have to get the exact jack that goes to your motherboard, de-solder the old jack, & solder in the new one. Trust me, de-soldering and removing an old jack isn't always as easy as it sounds. You will have to completely disassemble your laptop to do that too, so be sure to keep track of all the little screws and which screws go where. Why wont my hp pavillion dv7-1240us turn on with or without being plugged in ? but while plugged in if i hit the power button all the upper lights breifly come on then off..

because the battery isnt charging. Most likely cause is your dc jack is broken. Take out the battery, plug in AC adapter. Gently wiggle the adapter and hit the power repeatly. If it briefly turns on and off then yes your DC jack needs to be re-soldered.

I just bought a hp pavilion dv7-6c95dx and noticed the battery isn't charging

If the laptop is brand new, return it to HP form warranttee repair. If you do otherwise your warranttee will be void.

If the Laptop is not brand new, remove the battery and with the AC adapter connect power the laptop. If the laptop come on you have to replace the battery.
However, if the laptop did not come on with the AC adapter connected, the board of the laptop may be fault and you may have to replace the laptop.

My battery always stays charged, so why is my laptop telling me that i need to replace my battery?

Hi,the reason why your laptop is telling you to replace Battery is,you have killed your battery without knowing by Charging it always, since you have constant power supply, you should at least after getting a new Battery, discharge it four to five times a week longer life of battery,by these i mean, unplug cord from mains let power drain to 5% or 10% before charging again while working and if fully charged and you are not making use of it disconnect and if you want to make use of it use battery instead do not connect immediately to mains until power drains from battery.Just like your mobile phone, you only charge it when need be(ie. when Battery is Low).

Your power jack is bad. The cable and DC jack are a one piece cable that can be unplugged from the motherboard and replaced. They are available on EBay for around 30 bucks or less and takes approx. 30 minutes to change out.

HP Pavilion dv7 Problem.

your laptop is hard wired to shut down when the input is to high into this port. You more than like have a damaged AC/DC converter box in the line (the little box on in the middle of the power cord). This handy little thing converts your powerful and destructive AC current to a DC range that is compatible with the delicate circuits of your system. I would recommend refraining from plugging this system in until the cable has been replaced as you may soon encounter catastrophic failure of key components. HERE is a link to heck out a few online purchase options.
GOOD LUCK AND PLEASE RATE THIS POST!!!!!! :D

Power BOX supply cord problem or hardrive problem?

Check these settings first. In a clear spot on the screen where no icons are, right click and go to properties, box opens and at top should list from R to L, themes-desktop-screensaver-appearance-advanced. click on screensaver, close to bottom click on power, another box should open, click on power schemes, make sure it's set to portable/laptop, and at bottom make sure settings for plugged in are are set to never. If it's not that then you have a bad power supply cord, or a bad power supply unit in laptop. If it's new and under warranty take it in and have replaced if not warrantied then will cost you about 100-150, just a guess!! hope this helps. But it sounds like the supply cord making the beeping noise might be bad. Make sure it's plugged all the way in as well.
