Can i install 2 X 2gb ddr sdram on my Gateway GT5082

From what I gather you can use DDR PC3200, DDR (non-ECC) that equate up to 4gb of ram. So, as long as the RAM you are putting in is PC-3200 and no more than 2gb per stick, you should be good to go.

What type of RAM is used, and how to up grade

Hi,

The type of ram used is PC3200 DDR SDRAM. The maximum ram supported is 2GB

There are 2 slots on the motherboard each supporting 1 x 1GB (gigabyte) each.

If you want to upgrade to the maximum amount of ram then you must buy 2 x 1GB PC3200 DDR SDRAM.

To upgrade the ram take the side panel off the computer and remove the existing ram from the motherboard like in this picture.>>>

All you have to do is remove the ram and insert your new ram. Make sure that you clean the the slots of any dust as the dust can cause boot issues.

Good luck.

How to upgrade RAM of Compaq SRS 110 NX

You can buy a RAM from your computer from any dealer. You have to check its model, suppose DDR 2 or DDR 3 as same as your previous installed ram. You have to also check that which processor's speed it supports. e.g.- 2.9 Ghz, 3.0 Ghz etc. You can also simply give your CPU to any dealer, then they upgrade your RAM.

DDR or DDR2

DDR 266 is DDR, not DDR 2 . The 266 is the frequency value in Mhz.

Try having the memory refunded or resell it on Ebay, so that you do not lose your money.

Here is supported memory, many older motherboards do not accept modules of over 512Mb each, ask to the seller:

I have upgraded my k7s8xe with athlon xp 3200 cpu. I have adjusted the jumpers to fsb 200 & installed 1gb ddr 400 ram. system keeps rebooting os vista enterprise. any suggestions. also can i install 2...

First of all, if your FSB is set to 200mhz, the system will not support DDR400. "CPU at FSB 200MHz mode, it will NOT support DDR400". The FSB will have to be either 333 or 400mhz in order to utilize DDR400. Only 1GB of DDR400 is supported. As to your rebooting issue, could be because of these incompatibilities and/or you did not properly seat the heatsink/fan on the new CPU, which also means you might not have properly applied thermal compound or might have no applied it at all. All the compatibility information for this motherboard can be found at: http://www.asrock.com/mb/overview.asp?Model=K7S8XE

I have a Gateway FMC 901 and I want to update the motherboard to todays standards Is it possible?

To the contrary, the MCE Gateway 901x media center PCs cannot be upgraded via a new motherboard. The board's size was custom built for gateway and it doesn't comply to ATX standards. The best you can do is buy a 3.4ghz Socket 478 Pentium 4 Processor. I have tested the Prescott with 1mb of cache and Hyperthreading technology. I have not tested (nor will I because it is as of 2009, a $350 processor) the 3.4ghz Pentium 4 Extreme Edition with 2mb cache.

Best bet is to max the processor to 3.4ghz for $60 and spend $75 on 2gb or RAM. The system will now run Vista Media Center edition, TV Pack 2008, and can accomodate a HVR 1600 HD capture card. That is as far as this system can go until it goes to the boneyard.
