If it's broken, you can't get it back together and your prrinter won't work with "door" opem look for the sensor which indicates that door is open, stick it somehow so it should show door closed and used happily forever your printer. If this trick is not possible, no way, take your printer to an HP repair center and get installed a new door.
Be sure to check the closing mechanism to see if it is working properly. There is a "switch" in the printer that is deactivated by a plastic tab on the carriage door. Check to make sure it isn't broken or mis-aligned.
one reason the door cant close is precisely because there is a pastic piece on the door itself that prevents it from doing so, the reason is because the belt is most likely in the wrong position... it may need to have a lever moved to have it stay up and then closed. check the green handles and try turning them to different positions
Following are the reasons and its solution for amber light keeps flashing:

Any door of printer is open or not properly close. Sol. : Check all the doors that is close properly or not.
If problem is still remaining then contact a professional to repair this printer.
Please switch power off first before touching !!!
Check the doors are closed properly, you can get errors if not.
check the back too for particles of paper, open it then close again, double checking doors.
plug it in, try again
first, if thare any paper is jamed in the paper tray, pull the paper stright out. take out the remaining paper. close the paper tray.
opne the front cover pull out the toner cartirdge, remove the jamed paper.
open the inner door (where the paper exit). make sure there is not paper jamed it.
close the front door. if any paper jamed inside of the machine, it should automatically eject it out.
Note: reset the printer by opening and closing the front door.
u can check the printer ink in printer properties..then dont open the door if u dont change the ink cause hp printer is automatic sensor...when u open the printer door the printer cartridge goes in center automatically...so if u dont change the ink close the door always
