SOURCE: Chainsaw pull cord won't pull to start

Simply check to see if motor is locked is to remove spark plug and try to pull start. If motor turns, then he may have gotten gas in cylinder and created hydraulic lock. If moto does not turn, it is just a few screws more to take side cover off and see if rope caught in pully. In fact, you may want to take side cover off first, and make sure rope pulls out of housing, and self winds, like it should. At hat point, he can simple turn flywheel by hand to see if motor is locked up.

If the motor is locked up, you can put small amount of motor oil, (half a tea spoon) into spark plug hole, let it sit half an hour or so, and then try to work the flywheel back and forth to break it free. This condition may have been caused by running straight gas, not mixed. And, even if motor frees up, it may still need to go in for repair.

We have a couple of Poulin Pros at this saw mill where I work, and have had the piston lock up more than once, from guys dumping in straight gas. Sometimes we'ra able to free up piston, and make saw run again. And sometimes we end up tearing it down and repairing piston ring. Good Luck

SOURCE: Replacing a fuel line for a Poulan 2175 type 2 chainsaw

Take top cover off(3 screws). Take off the 2 nuts holding the carb on. Pull carb part way out to access the hoses. Remove the 3 old hoses after making a diagram of where they connect. Buy new hoses. Cut one end of the small hose on a bevel, pierce both sides 1/8 th inch from the end with a needle. Thread a thin wire through both holes. Thread both wire ends into the gas tank. Use a hemostat or long needle nose plyers to pull the wires and then hose down into the tank. Attach the weighted fuel filter. The other end of this smaller diameter fuel line goes on the upper nipple on the carb. Take the side cover off (4 screws) to access the primer bulb. Take 2 screws out to remove the bulb which has 2 nipples. The longer nipple connects to the larger diameter hose which goes to the fuel tank. The larger diameter tube has a coupler on the end which is inside the gas tank. It took me an hour to change all 3 hoses.

SOURCE: Poulan 335 chainsaw starts easily and then stalls

1. You will first want to check your fuel lines for cracks/breaks.
2. If they are o.k. then you will need to disassemble the carburetor and spray with carb. cleaner. Make sure that the small screen in carb. is free of debris. Use a Den Tek Brush, (http://www.drugstore.com/products/prod.asp?pid=165357&catid=1152), to clean the small portals in carb. Check the gasket and diaphragm for breaksor wear. (NOTE): If your carburetor guts, (Carb. Kit), are more than 3 or 4 years old, you might want to replace them while you have it apart.

If you need further assistance, just let me know.

Why 2-Cycle engine poulan chainsaw will not idle

It sounds like you have an air leak from carb to carb adapter.

Poulan 2150 chain saw starts and dies after 5 seconds or so then wont start

Try a few easy things first, hook the fuel hose out of the fuel tank through the filler hole and replace the filter on the end, follow the fuel hoses up to the carb and check foe any signs of fuel leakage, replace the affending hose if cracked.

Poulan 2150 chain saw starts after priming and dies after a few seconds

Take the exhaust off so you can see the side of the piston, if it is scored or damaged it means it has probably been run without oil added to the petrol.
That can cause the problems you are having, if it is throw it away, its not worth repairing

Model 2175 poulan - pump up primer bulb and it colapses. When i put fuel in head it runs till gone..

Change out the primer bulb and the small gas lines going to carb and primer. One of these has a small crack to let air get by and this is how you get a flat primer bulb. Pick the kit up at lowes for $6-8.
