Installation problem When I try to reinstall the software, I connect the USB cable and turn on the scanner, nothing happens

    I'm responding to blueextc3221. The operating system is Windows XP. And the scanner/printer has be installed, successfully, until yesterday. And I can't reinstall it.

    Please reply with more info... O/S you are using, if this is a new problem, and if you have ever used the USB ports successfully before.

Sounds like the driver has become corrupt.
Unplug power and USB from printer.
Remove (delete) the printer from Device Manager.
Download the newest driver from HP.com website.
Remember where the driver is located on your PC.
Shut down PC.
Plug in power and USB to printer.
Start Machine.
When it recognizes the new hardware, point it to the driver you just downloaded.
Any problems, come back

How do I get my scanner to work?


Test scanner powers up - ie light comes on when first powered. If nothing - check your power supply and replace or repair if necessary.

Test data cables by changing cable or changing data port. If the scanner is USB connection you should see/hear a connection warning. If nothing happens - either your ports aren't active or your scanner i/o port is faulty

Check you have only one installation of the scanner in your scanners and cameras folder. If more than one copy - delete the spares.

Sounds like it is in the scanner software you re using. I would uninstall the software and printer, turn it off and remove the cables from the computer as well. Reboot the computer and the printer and reinstall the software. It will usually tell you when to attach the USB cable again.

Hi, i have a canoscan lide 25, it's installed, but when push the scan button, nothing happens. but when i open control panel and click test scanner, it works and makes sounds and says test is complete.


What is your OS? Do you have the full featured software installed and set up (TWAIN driver plus the Toolbox including ScanGear CS )? Do you mean the software scan button or the hardware (on the scanner) button?

If you are trying to launch a scan from the scanner, then scan button will only work if the computer has the full software and is running the monitoring program. You also need the default destinations in the software. These are the standard resolution for the scan and the folder to save the resulting file among other things. The full software is available for supported OS versions here: http://usa.canon.com/cusa/support/consumer/scanners/canoscan_series/canoscan_lide25?selectedName=DriversAndSoftware#DriversAndSoftware . Test scanning from the computer software as well.

If the problem is at the software on your computer, try a new data cable. If you are using a USB hub, try a direct connection. Scanners require bi-directional communication with the computer and will fail if there is any damage to the USB port, driver or cable. If you can, try a different USB port. If problems persist, disconnect the data cable between the computer and the scanner. Uninstall the Canon software and the driver. Then reinstall and try scanning again. (For Windows OS versions, check the Device Manager to make sure that your USB driver is working. Click Start > Control Panel > Hardware (title varies with version) > Device Manager. If you see a triangle with a red X or yellow exclamation point, try updating the driver.)

I got error on printer LBP2900 when connect to my laptop (windows 7) It show communication error but usb connection and software installation no problem. Any idea about it?


Most likely it is a corrupt software installation.
You can try the easy things first: 1) Unplug the USB cable from the computer 2) Reboot 3) Plug the USB cable back into the computer, see if the communication error happens again
If that doesn't work, time to reinstall the software: 1) Go to Control Panel > Add Remove Programs OR Programs (depending on which version of Windows you have) 2) Remove every piece of software related to your printer 3) Unplug the USB cable from your computer 4) Reboot 5) Disable any Anti-Virus or Firewall software that you have running 6) Re-run the printer installation software

When I press the scan button, the error USB not connected appears even though it is connected.


You will need to install the software that came with the printer on the computer that it is connected to. The software will then run on the computer and "listen" for a command when you press the scan button. What is the make/model of your printer?

Uninstall your printer software,then remove all data cables of printer(i.e. USB) .Then reboot your computer ,after that reinstall the printer software & do not connect the USB cable unless prompted by the software to do so.Next finish the installation & you are done.

It wont download pictures to the computer


If I remember correctly, you needed to install the software and the drivers before connecting the camera by USB cable. It should all have been done with the camera not connected.
If you did it while it was connected, you must try uninstaling the software, and going into Device Manager and finding the specific driver fot that camera and Kodak, and removing that too.
Then restart your PC and start fresh.
Do the Software and Driver installation without the camera being installed or attached.
Once you have done the installation of software and driver, then, following the instructions, you can attach the camera and it should work this time.

Epson RX580 Communication Error During Install


Hey...

I ran into a similar problem (okay, the same problem), and my problem turned out to be my USB cable. I was using an extender. When I ran the cable to the PC without the cable extender, my problems disappeared. If you're not using an extender, you might just try a different USB cable.

Benq flatbed scanner error ffff;0024 will not operate or scan


Hi,
This appears to be a software or communication between scanner and computer.
go for the usual re-installation of the software program being used, i.e paperport or similar.
try removing and reinstalling the scanner itself.
unplug the unit for between 30-60 minutes, to eliminate power pack overheating issues.
unplug the comms cable ( USB or other ) and re-connect.

Installation problems


How do you connect the mfc to your computer/laptop? In case you use usb make sure that the cable isnt longer than 3m and it is connected directly to your comp/lap usb. Do NOT connect to a hub. This causes a prob with the scanner.
In case you have it installed within a network (RJ45) there is a guide which can be download from brother homepage of your country. It explains the settings and installing for the scanner and printer.
