I just had to repair one of these guns for work. It's a bit tricky, seeing as you are dealing with springs and such...but it can be done. Take your time ...don't set the springs until you have things set in place and lined up. Make sure the pins are in place. Set the flat spring first (it is the toughest) while the handle is depressed all the way in. Gently open the handle and then set the torsion spring. Take your time here...springs are set and they could make all the pieces fly out if you don't quickly get the other half put on it. Hope this helps.8d59edb.jpg

SOURCE: staple gun has staples but quit working.

I hae the same problem. I don't know the real names of the parts so I will make up my own and try to describe them. The problem with mine is that the "hammer" (the piece in front that slams down on the staple and shoots it out) is broken. The "hammer" has two notches that the tension spring (actually a metal bar with two tongs not to be confused with the spring the returns the handle to the at rest position) fits into. One of these notches on the hammer is broken. Therefore one side is not attached to the tension spring the causing the other side to slip off and since the hammer is not connect to the tension spring you get no resistance. Unfortunately I could not find anywhere that sells a replacement peice.

Our staples won't go all the way through . We

You didn't list the make and model of your stapler but if it's not driving the staples flush with the surface here are some possible causes:
1. The wood; If you are driving long staples into hardwood or knotty lumber you may have to use shorter staples to see how they set.
2. Stapler settings; Turning the air pressure up isn't the answer to driving staples deeper, it is only harder on the stapler. Most staplers work in the 90 to 120 psi range. The lower pressure you use the longer your stapler will last. Check/adjust the depth of drive control on the stapler to determine where the top of the staple is driven to.
3. Broke stapler; If it's not driving them to the proper depth but the level they are driven to is consistant, you may have a damaged piston o-ring/seal or the end of the driver is broken off. You'll have to go into the gun or take it to a service center to check these things.

How do I open the staple compartment? Already tried the back button

Pushing the button should eject the staple compartment from the front of the unit. It sounds as if the stapler compartment is jammed or corroded.
While pushing the button, attempt to pull the compartment from the front of the stapler. It should slide out like a drawer. Try pulling on the front of the compartment while applying a little pressure in different directions.
You may have to use a small tool to grab the compartment if you can't get a good grip. You may have to use some force. Use only as much pressure as you're comfortable with.
When you do open the compartment, inspect all moving parts and bearing points to be sure nothing is jammed, bent, corroded or seeing excess wear. Remove a jam with small pliers, being sure to get the entire staple. Use fine sand paper on corrosion and then treat with a bit of oil.

The stapler is fixing two staples instead of one at a time.what can be the defect and how to correct it?

First check and make sure the proper staples are in the gun. Also check and make sure the stapler is clear and no jammed or broken staples are in the gun. If this is a desk stapler make sure the plate is locked in for the staple to hit and bend the ends out or in. if all this is working the driver or the piece of metal that pushes the staple out may be bent. If the stapler is new take it back if it is not a minor problem and get a new one.

When using nailer w/ compressor, nail goes in only 1/2''

I worked at a tool rental center while attending college and had the opportunity to learn a great deal about nailers /staplers. At the tool rental center we had a large variety of staplers available to the customer depending of the job. Not knowing what specific brand or model I will give you some things to check. You could have a broken tip on the driver, to check try nailing into soft wood to see if staple is driven well into wood. If not open gun and check for broken or bent driver blade and replace as necessary. If staple is driven into soft wood ok, then check that the driver piston oring/split ring fits snugly in cylinder. If the piston fits too loose in cylinder you will loose power. If piston fits snuggly in cylinder, then time to check air supply. We would use a tee fitting with male fitting , pressure gauge and quick connect at the end of the hose to check that the air pressure at the end of the hose is at rated pressure. With tee fitting installed, you can fire the nailer and check that the pressure is actually the same as the reading at the pressure control. You may discover that the pressure is too low at the hose end. Sometimes the pressure regulator will not allow the recommended volume of air to flow thru to the gun. The gauge at the end of the hose will show that the pressure will be somewhat slow to recover. The pressure should be set to 120 at the compressor and maybe drop to no less than 100 at the hose end. If you suspect that the regulator is causing problem, you may temporarily remove it and use air directly out of the tank if your pressure switch shuts off the pump at 125psi. Good Luck, hope this helps enjoy.
