Your power adapter on the motherboard needs to be re soldered or replaced because they all come loose and move.

the problem could be finding the part and the labour cost to do it, get a few quotes and consider if its more cost effective to replace the laptop or repair.

SOURCE: Can't charge battery or run off AC

I have the same problem. You have to take your battery out and then plug it in. I had my motherboard replaced and it is a little better, but I still have a bad connection between the charger and the laptop. I have to make sure they are connected just right for it to work at all.

SOURCE: Dell vostro 1700 won't turn on

One thing you can try is

remove the RAM and the Hard drive and the battery and any power source let it sit for 10 minutes or so for the capacitors to discharge the energy in their stores. I would probably get a can of compressed air thats made for computers and give it a good couple times over getting in those ports.

Sometimes if a laptop receives a power spike it will retain that extra energy or in turn it causes a glitch. I.E the computer refusing to power up. It could also be a failsafe. I have repaired countless laptops that seemed DOA but sometimes it happens.

Give it a try and let me know what happens

SOURCE: My laptop is a Sony Vaio PCG-6Q2M with Power and Battery Problems

The best advice would be to update the BIOS and then go to the BIOS utility and restore the settings back to default. This might resolve the issue if it is software related. If not then visit the manufacturer's website and download the latest chipset drivers. Restart.
Try using a different power adapter of the same kind and check for the issue.
Turn off system and remove the power cable and battery and press the power button for about 30 seconds to power drain the system.
Turn on and check.
If not the main board itself is the issue for which I would request you to contact the manufacturer.

I would have swapped coils first. If the code goes for one to the other, it is the coil. If it stays the same, change that plug and or wire/boot. Next check the wiring . Breaks mostly close the the coil plug. Then head towards the injector.

Can you reset a Stentura 8000? It's stuck "Recovering Files"

If you were indeed talking about the Stentura 8000, and not the computer, and if your writer boots up ok but gets stuck at "recovering files" **when you try to start writing**, try verifying that the floppy is good (e.g. looking at it via a computer)- it may just be that the floppy got fried in the power surge. You can try using a fresh floppy (check in Windows/etc to make sure, first). There are many floppy-recovery programs out there on the web, and that'll at least get your Stentura sane again. Just dealt with this a few minutes ago, and that's all it turned out to be...but after 3 months, you've probably long since found your own solution.

My monitor comes on for a few seconds then goes off how can i fix that

Check to make sure that the power cable and computer cable are secure. Im not sure how many options your monitor has, but here are some troubleshooting tips:
  • Try plugging a different computer into the monitor using the same connector
  • Try plugging a different device into the monitor using a different connector (TV, Etc)
  • Try plugging the same computer into the monitor using a different kind of cable (if option is available)
If another computer works then it is the computer and not the monitor, if a different connector works (HDMI or RGB instead of VGA) then it is the connector. If another computer or another connector results in the same problem then the monitor is likely faulty and will need to be repaired by a professional or replaced.

How old is your computer? Did you recently have a power outage or anything? Most the time if a computer won't turn on, something in it went bad OR an outlet is bad. Try this:

1. Make sure that the power switch is on, the switch in the back (on the power supply itself) is turned on, and everything along those lines is functioning.
2. If that doesn't work, and it will not power on AT ALL, make sure the cords are plugged firmly in place, including the surge protector and/or the power cord itself.
3. Try resetting the surge suppressor and/or plug the computer into a different outlet in the surge suppressor. Try other items in that surge suppressor (or even in the wall outlet, if that's what you're plugged into) to make sure that the outlet itself is working.
4. If your computer is plugged directly into a working wall or surge suppressor outlet, try a different power cord.
5. If your surge suppressor works, your wall outlet has power to it, and you are using a known-good power cord in the computer, you will have to go into more in-depth investigation as something inside the computer likely went bad. It could be the video card, motherboard, CPU fan, power button, or the power supply itself. Start by testing the video card and the power supply by (one at a time) swapping out a known-good component for the one you suspect may be bad. If it won't turn on after that, try swapping out the next and try it again. If it still will not work, it could be something more serious such as the motherboard or power button.

Good luck!

it could be a bad power supply or a bad motherboard. Other problems might cause issues, such as a bad video card.
