SOURCE: My Singer 2639 Bobbin case

Hi, I used to have the same problem. I pulled the whole bobin casing out, cleaned it oiled it. When I put it back in, I made sure the actual bobin was turing the right direction so the cotton didnt snag and pull casing up.

If you havent already tried this give it a go.Its amazing how much gunk gets in there.

SOURCE: Singer 1120 timing

h,

Timing" is the alignment of the needle at its lowest point and the hook on the bobbin case. The point of the hook must pass directly behind the "scarf" of the needle fo the interlocking loop of a "single needle lockstitch" machine to occur. Look closely at the needle. You will see the long groove along the front of it. This is where the thread rides as the needle goes up and down. If you look at the back of the needle you will see a flattened area just above the point. This is the "scarf"; it's flattened to permit the hook of the bobbin case to run right by it and catch the loop.
When a machine is out of "time", the hook is either too early or too late, OR to far away from the scarf to make the connection. You can send a machine out of time by hitting a pin, or breaking a needle "hard" (too fast through too many layers, etc.). You can usually identify a machine that is out of time by multiple skipped stitches at high speeds, or by stitching fast and then quickly putting it into reverse. Sometimes, you can scrape by if you rotate the insertion of your needle a little bit, this can help compensate for minor timing issues.

Perhaps you have bent the needle. Or perhaps you have shifted the bobbin somewhat while removing jammed fabric.

Here are some videos that may help. If not, search the internet for thread jam.

If you get it unjammed, be sure to install a new needle as the old one is probably damaged. If there are still issues, the machine's timing may be off and would need professional service.

I have a 5050c singer The bobbin case jump out and now the needle hits on the metal plate that is under the bobbin case. How do I fix this ?

I think that you have had the wrong size bobbin. It should be a class 66. Look in your manual, it should tell you. If, that is not it, call Singer at 1-800-4singer and ask if it sounds like the timing and if so where can you take it to get fixed. This is a nice machine, my friend, has one and it is worth getting fixed if you like it.

I think the timing is off on my singer 7430 -- it keeps breaking needles and I can see where the needle hits the bottom of the bobbin casing when it is in the fully down position -- any quick fix?

Drop-in bobbin?

Refer to the maintenance section of the manual for cleaning.

Raise the needle to it's highest position and remove the bobbin and bobbin case.

Clean the shuttle and replace the bobbin case, noting the graphic in the instruction manual for aligning the case into the shuttle.

Turn the handwheel to see if the needle now clears the outer edge of the bobbin case.

Singer Sewing Machine model 9224. Bobbin thread

If you turn the handwheel, can you see a metal ring rotating around the outer edge of the bobbin case? If not rotating, broken gear or timing belt off.
If that ring is turning, remove the needle plate and bobbin case. As this ring now rotates, you will a finger on the ring that will pass behind the needle from right to left and it should catch the thread from the eye of the needle. If this finger, the "hook" passes above the eye, you have a timing problem.

Let me know.
