Re: How to solve Canon MP190 printer with waste ink full...
I am guessing that their is an electricial connection from that tray.Find that contact inside of the tray and either spray it with tunner spray(you get a can from an electronics place like radio shack) or try cleaning it with a pencil eracer. That sensor is still reading ink in the tray.

I am told that this will reset your counter and eliminate the full absorber warning that you are getting.
Cleaning the pads is messy, sending the printer to Canon is expensive,
I used a simular reset code for my MP470 and haven't had any problems.
1. To clean physical pads: Open cover (as if replacing ink cartridge). Locate waste ink pads, they are far right under cartridge slider. Pry up waste ink pads (inky, might want to wear gloves). Rinse pads in sink or with alcohol, dry. Replace pads. Make sure pads are fully seated.
2. To reset waste ink counter: Press Menu-Scan-Copy-Scan to enter service menu. Use arrow keys to scroll to "Service menu counter access". Press OK. Use arrow keys to scroll to "ABS-M DOT COUNT" Press Copy. Use arrow keys to reset count to zero. Press OK. Press Stop/Reset.
Reset Waste Ink 1) Enter SERVICE MODE. By pressing Menu, Copy, Scan,Copy,Copy 2) Select TEST MODE. 3) Select PRINTERTEST in TEST MODE. 4) Select 3. [EEPROMCLEAR]. 5) Select 0. [INKCOUNT]. 6) Press the [Set]key. 7) Press the [Stop/Reset]key (returning to thestate of 3)), and then press the [ON/OFF] key.
been googling for quite a while looking for the correct reset of this canon MP190. but none found that works for MP190. obviously CANON, don't want anyone to reset and make use of their printer but to buy instead.
based on the logic of MP160 and similar MP series canon printer. The same will apply for MP190, the resetter should be able to access the printer's eprom chip and erase or over write those counters stat stored.
there are couple of IC chips at the back of the printer to start on.
For Canon MP190 ONLY it worked that software but I used a software named Resetter Canon MP198. First put the printer in service mode. Press and hold the RESUME button (Is the red one ), then press and
hold the POWER button, wich became green. While still holding the POWER button, Release the RESUME
button, then press and release the RESUME button two more times. Ast the first press the green power button turns off and a orange led turns on. At the second press the orange led turns off and the power became green. Now the printer is in Service Mode. So with printer conected to PCstart the software and reset the ink absorber level. It worked for me.
