I am recieving a error 1 message on my Canon RebelXT/Eos

ERR 01 is a lens communication error. Try cleaning the contacts on the lens and in the mirror box.

ERR 05 is a flash error. It is usually caused because the flash failed to pop up. This can be casued by something as simple as the flash hitting the brim of a 'gimme' cap or impact to the flash or most likely spillage of sticky liquid around the flash and its pivots.

The XT also is notorious for having the bottom right screw of the rear circuit board come loose and short out some function of the camera, or even blow the main fuse or damage the circuit boards.

Hi there, I am having the same problem. I have this dark round cicrle on each of my photos weather im outside or inside night or specially at night. I have a D90 nikon and it has a hoood on it and iam...

A huge possibility, without actually seeing the picture is that it's a shadow caused by the lens hood. The internal flash units are "generally" good for up to about 80mm then the focal length of the lens starts getting in the flash burst, add a hood and the problem is compounded. With a 105mm lens and it's hood it's a wonder you didn't cut the bottom 1/3 off the picture. How to correct this shadow well I won't say it can't be done cause someone will disagree. Let me say that it would take some time and some pretty impressive photo programing. If you have an external flash why not use it they "normally" sit higher then the on board flash units.

My camera wont turn on when i try the amber light flashes and it makes 3 beeps then nothing the batterys full but iam able to load pics on the computer by plugging the cable in

The 3 beeps probably means your lens has failed.
I would guess the lens extends only about half way.

I was quoted $US80 for replacement.

I shall probably give it to my 2 year old as a toy and save up for a better camera.

You camera is not registering the lens..... is this a new lens or have you used this before on this camera.

Possible faulty lens as the metering is not functionable.

I take out door photos during day time,Iam getting white screen.

First make sure the mode selector dial is set to the red camera without an M next to it (ie you're in Auto mode and NOT in manual mode). If so...

A stuck shutter is another common failure mode for digital cameras. The symptoms of a stuck or "sticky" shutter are very similar to CCD image sensor failure. The camera may take black pictures (for shutter stuck closed), or the pictures may be very bright and overexposed, especially when taken outdoors (for shutter stuck open).

To confirm a stuck shutter, put the camera in any mode other than "Auto", and turn the flash OFF (you don't want to blind yourself for the next step). Next look down the lens and take a picture. You should see a tiny flicker in the center of the lens as the shutter opens and closes. If no movement is seen, then you likely have a stuck shutter. If so, please see the following for further info and a simple fix that may help:

http://camerarepair.blogspot.com/2009/05/simple-fix-for-stuck-shutter.html

Now the A410 is not capable of taking 15 second exposures as recommended for the fix. Instead try setting the camera to manual mode, turn off the flash, got to a darkened room, and take a picture. Open the battery door while the red and yellow light are flashing. If after many tries this does not work, then consider trying Fix #5a on the site. But do so with the camera turned off and the lens retracted to lessen the chance of damaging the lens mechanism.

Dear Frac1969,
There are many reasons when flash isn't poping up. Flash selection could be OFF from menu or its setting is Auto. Are you geting any error message in camera when you try to use Flash function?
