Question about Computers & Internet
I suggest that you don't transfer a non-working anti-virus to your computer. Why transfer it when you can get a new one. You can download and install a new Norton to your other laptop by visiting Norton's Website. Click here to visit Norton.
I also suggest that you install RadarSync to your computer so that your computer's updates mechanism will become automated. Having some updated device drivers inside your computer will lead to software problems.
Can you give the details about the password? Which password is that?

the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of.(from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones)
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

Did you have a older version of Norton on your system before.
I have problems installing new version of Norton after not fully uninstalling the older version. Symantec has a removal tool for free to download. I would run this tool before trying again to install the new version. But that's just me. You do what you want.
