My drive is almost fill a 4g now when i plug it in it is not reading any of the stored files.

Hello there!

USB flash drives in general, are wonderful little tools that allow people to store a relatively a large amount of data in a compact and portable interface that is extremely easy to use at all. The downside of storing lots of critical data on a USB flash drive, however, is that they're fairly susceptible to damage and that you can lose all of your information immediately if something goes wrong. When troubleshooting a USB flash drive, there are several key things to check and to remember that will help you to determine whether your flash drive is destroyed or not.

1. Look and see whether or not your USB flash drive's indicator lights are activated when it is plugged in to your computer's USB port. The vast majority of USB flash drives have small LED lights located somewhere on them that flash intermittently when they're hooked up to a computer. If your light does not turn on, then it's either not plugged in properly or is damaged and likely not repairable.

2. Make sure to download and install the right driver software for your USB flash drive.
3. Try your USB flash drive on more than one computer before giving up on it altogether. If it works on another computer, then the problem is likely with your computer hardware or software, not with the USB flash drive.
4. If you cannot restore your files, you may use a third party software to recover them.

How to format corrupt memory card?

You will need a card reader (unless your PC has an SD/MCC slot): 1- Insert the SD into slot or into the card reader and then insert the card reader into a USB port. (please wait for few seconds) 2- Click on Start - RIGHT click on MY COMPUTER -Choose Manage 3- Look at the left information pane and click on STORAGE 4- You should see all your drives on there to include the SD drive 5- Right click on SD drive (it should show you the path ie E:\, D:\ etc and the size 1-2-4-32 GB etc...) 6- Choose FORMAT (There will be a drop down menu, please choose NTFS) and wait for it to do it's thing (this is irreversible) Wait till you see the words HEALTHY PARTITION (followed by the drive name) You are done! Have a great day!

How to use Micro USB flash drive?

OK. Just put the flash drive in one of your USB ports (rectangular slot). The system should recognize your drive and auto-install the driver. If not and the USB ports are OK, download the driver for your Micro USB flash drive. If you are not certain about the driver, let me know which specific (brand and model) USB drive you have. Also, let me know if the USB is/isn't recognized. Hope this helps.

How Do I/Where do I put this thing in my phone

Stick the microchip into the adapter(s) and insert it into a sd slot on your computer if you have one. If you dont have an sd slot, they sell external systems for sd cards at any electronic store that carries computers such as best-buy. This should FixYa!

Don't have a problem, just don't know how to use flash drive

Simply plug in the thumbdrive into any available USB slot. It will show up in "My Computer" - generally named the same as the manufacturer of the drive.

From here it's all just drag and drop into the thumbdrive. You can make folders, or whatever you want as though it were a normal hard drive.

When you're done, right click on the drive in My Computer and select "Eject" - then you're done.

I recently (accidentaly) bent the usb plug thing, the silver bit while it was in the computer. I'v opened it an can see small amounts of damage but dont now whats stopping it from working

If wires are busted, you're out of luck. Could try taking it to a tech type to see if they can pull the information off of it, but odds are you're looking at buying a new flash drive.

Usb flash drive will not install

Try applying a small amount of pressure to the drive(up or down). The contacts might not be making a good connection. Have you updated the drivers for your pci to usb connections? Have you rebooted the machine with the dirve in the USB slot? Let me know what happens Tim
