SOURCE: I/O card parity interrupt at 20000:0228

I know this is a very old thread but hoping it will answer the question of any one else searching for a solution.
I have recently been upgrading four Dell GX620 machines with an ATI HD3450 dual video card. I came across the
same problem on two of the four machine - which was odd - I have searched google for an answer but non was found.
I compared hardware and BIOS of Dell equipment but there was no difference - so how could 2 work and 2 not?
Battling on I ended up pulling the power, removing the battery backup and jumpering the RTSCRST on the motherboard to wipe all BIOS configs. After re-applying power the BIOS was reset as date/time was not set. Since this, the fault has gone away.
So for whatever reason this occurs, it seems it can be overcome by resetting the BIOS. A BIOS upgrade did/does NOT fix the issue. Loading BIOS defaults did/does NOT fix the issue.

mostlikely an input/output card issue, or a motherboard failure. first thing to do, disconnect any i/o card you may have like video card and other expansion cards. Then connect the cards one by one and test the system if the error has stop. If your system has an intg video controller, try using it first to rule out an expansion video card issue. if you've ruled out any expansion devices and you have reseat the CMOS settings of the system, most likely, you need to get a new motherboard or request warranty replacement if still applicable.

I/O card parity interrupt at F000:F188. Type ( S )hut off NMI, ( R )eboot, other keys to continue This all shows up before I even get the Windows loading screen, so I'm pretty much not past th

In most pcs you need to repair the start up. You probably have a virus preventing you from doing much of anything. Call the manufacturer and get the recovery key to push when you start it up and wipe it back to the day it came out of the box.
To get around to copy the files off before you do that try this. Press the windows key next to Alt and use the arrows on your keyboard to go up & down & left & right. If nothing happens when you press the windows key, the recover it as soon as possible.

Hi mmm it sounds to me like your motherboard has got some problems. sometimes running system tests through the boot menu may help but should indicate weather you need a new motherboard or not. Sometimes a good clean inside computer is the way to go as well... Hope this helps

Hi there, how can I fix the problem of I/O card parity interrupt at F000:F188 when appeared at starting my computer?

It sounds like one of the 3rd party cards has died. If you have a firewire card I would start by removing that and performing several cold boots (boot the computer, then completely shut it down as opposed to rebooting) If that doesn't fix it continue with the other cards, one at a time and replacing the previous card, until the issue is resolved. If you're still under warranty, call dell and request a repair.

Hi there,
This error refers to an expansion card having an issue. If you've got any cardbus, wifi, bluetooth, etc cards take them out and see if that resolves the issue. More info here:

1 Adaptec RAID 3085 cause parity error in server while 2nd don't!

I'm thinking you should be checking the drives. If one of them is failing, you will get parity errors.
