Question about Water Heaters

Open Question

Junkers Tankless Gas Water Heater not hot enough

There used to be a drop in water pressure just after the tap was turned on, now the pressure is constantly strong and passes through the unit too fast to heat the water sufficiently for winter(summer is fine),could this be a diaphragm fault?

SOURCE: richman gas lp tankless hot water heater. used for

I had the same problem with my Paloma a year and a half after installation...contacted Rheem\Paloma\Richman customer service (800-432-8373) and they recommened a local installer in my area. The technican diagnosed the problem as the "flow control valve"; he managed to get Rheem/Paloma to cover the part under warranty...I only had to shell out the money for the install.

What is the outside temperature? If it it is below freezing, you might have a frozen pipe. Using a plumber torch heat up the pipe, if it works, replace the insulation using a heavier layer.

Need help with Bosch hydropower 13h tankless hot water system

when you turn on the hot water tap there is a pressure switch in the line that sends a signal to a gas solenoid to pass the gas and at the same time to the pizo to start the flame
I would have that pressure switched checked as it may be sticking ( internal contamination) or have dirty corroded points
as gas is involved I would suggest a gas technician do the jib
when you turn off the tap, that pressure switch is shut off so the gas is turned off at the solenoid and the pizo is stopped.

Hot water varies

I do not know how old this unit is or what model but many water heaters are not sophisticated enough to measure the temperature, but heat based on water flow and temperature rise. To start, tankless water heaters turn off every time you turn the hot water off. Lets use an example. You use the facilities, wash your hands then turned off the water and take a shower. You will bring the already heated water (from washing your hands) from the pipe up to the shower. Then the cold water that comes into the pipe from the reactivation of the water heater comes up the hot water pipe with warm then hot water just behind.

If this is not your problem, keep reading. Every unit I have been called to see were installed wrong. Check your installation manual to see if the problem with the system started with the contractor.

First, check the temperature of the water from the heater. If it is too hot and you are mixing too much cold water in, the unit will turn off because there is not enough water flow to keep it running.

Second, turn off the valve at the water heater and turn on the hot water at a faucet. If the water does not stop running, there is a "plumbing cross over" usually caused by a failing pressure balance valve in a shower.

Third, if the unit has not been serviced, go to bosch-climate.us to find a tankless water heating professional in your area. Totally Tankless LLC

Junkers gas geysers not heating water much

between 60 and 75 degrees c as any hotter will scald you. Have the gas specialist check it out as it may not be getting enough gas flow to the burner either a badly adjusted regulator or a blockage in the gas tap or line.. You control the temp by the amount of water coming out of the tap as you found out when you attempted to restrict the water flow.

Our rheem pronto tankless rutg-74xp red light will come home indicating hot water and stay on about 2 minutes and then turns off we have turned off and back on and let water run for 5 minutes and will come...

List of causes MIGHT include one of following:
Bad household circuit breaker that powers electronics, or loose wire inside outlet where tankless plugs in.
Tankless fuses and control board.
Water flow rate too low. Minimum .8 gallon required (depending on model)
Tankless inlet filter clogged.
Household aerators clogged at faucets.
Crossover at single-handled faucet
If installed, there can be crossover at mixing valve.
Faulty household check valve, including check valve on re-circulation system if that system is installed.
Restriction in household water line, such as clog at elbow.
Unequal pressure in household hot and cold lines, caused by restriction in hot line. When single-handled faucet turns on, the cold water pressure is higher so hot does not flow and tankless will not turn on.
Loose wire connection inside tankless.
Unit temperature set too high.
Unit temperature set too low.
Water temperature is very hot coming out of tap, so more cold is added, but that reduces amount of hot water flow, so tankless turns off because flow rate is too low.
On some tankless, if water is preheated by solar or other indirect source, the burner will not activate.
High mineral content in water > delime tankless yearly
Misaligned temperature sensor
Low gas pressure. Wrong type of gas. Undersized gas line.
Too many faucets on at same time.
Faulty tankless water valve. Water valve stuck.
Fluctuating household water pressure, for example MUD and PUD district water pressure problems or water well pressure.
Faulty household pressure reducing/regulating valve if installed.
Faulty household pressure tank, if installed -or- pressure tank needs to be installed.

The problem with all that type of water heater is that once the hot tap is turned on sufficient flow must be maintained through the water heater to keep the main gas burner alight. If the heat adjuster is turned up to high, then the person using the hot water will turn it down to a low rate which means the main burner will turn off and result in cold water. Try setting the heat control to the lowest setting that still gives hot enough water. If you have a thermometer adjust control for a temperature of around 50 to 55 degrees Celcius. You may have to fiddle with fine adjustments to get the temperature and flow rates to maintain a constant output of hot water. You may still have intermittent problems. If the heater only supplies baths or showers you could set the temperatuer even lower (45 to 50) to ensure that the hot tap is used more than the cold which will maintain flow and therefore heat.

The hot water will not come on intermitently. I

if your on a private well, it sounds as though your loosing enough water pressure to shut the heater off,.(which is right before the water pump comes on),....tankless heaters turn on by sensing water flow, and of course off when flo stops,......water pressure tanks often need to be re-charged with air for pressure to stay even,....does your water pressure fluctuate?

I have a Rinnai tankless gas water heater and this things beeping and flashing 12 everytime we turn on the hot water the water will get hot but you have to wait for it to stop beeping

Error 12 is failed ignition - this can be caused by many things, but normally a low gas pressure, or no gas pressure upon ignition.
Try turning the hot tap on very slowly till till the control shows burner is lit. Then turn it on faster. If it stays going with no error, you might have a faulty regulator, not opening fast enough to meet demand. Especially common with lpg models,a lot rarer on natural gas.
