Can i install 64 bits of window 7 on my Sony VaioPCG-7D2L

Technically Yes, you can.

However, your laptop is quite old now, and may not be suited for 64-bit Windows. You can install and run Windows x64, but it may be slow and unstable.

Why do you need 64-bit?
If you don't plan on running a 64-bit-only application or you have more than 4GB of RAM, chances are you wouldn't need a 64-bit windows installation.

Do not know how to enable the wireless switch Vaio model PCG 61A14L aptop. It was working wireless but not any more.

Apparently there is a physical hardware switch at the bottom front of the laptop. This could be switched to off it is for airplane mode. If this doesn't fix problem pull out the battery and remove power cord and change switch and power up laptop again.

How to install ram in my Sony Vio PCG-5B1M Laptop

The RAM module/s is located on the bottom of the laptop behind a small panel. Remove this panel will uncover the RAM slots.
To install more RAM try to use RAM from the same manufacturer and RAM speed.

I was handed up pcg 3g7p and I want to upgrade the RAM to 8Gig from 4. Any advice? I also need to replace the fan so might take it in but would rather do the job than pay for that too?

I don't see a "3g7p" of any sort on Sony's site assuming it is an Sony Vaio PCG laptop of some sort. It would be good to check out the specifications of the laptop on the manufacturer's web site to see if the motherboard will support 8 GB of RAM.

If it does, it will have 2 expansion slots, so you will need to buy two 4GB DIMMS to install. Typically you can access the RAM slots by remove a single panel from the bottom of the laptop.

As far as the fan, you'll need to completely open it up. If you can list the make and full model, we can find a guide to demonstrate how to open it up step by step so you can remove the old fan, install the new one and re-assemble the whole laptop.

I have a Sony Vaio PCG-K25 laptop and am trying to upgrade to a gig of memory. Is it possible to do this? I put 2 512 memory chips in the slots but it only sees 448. Using Kingston Technology 512 mb...

Hi,

This laptop has its own graphics card that doesn't rely on system memory for the graphics.

There should be no reason why its not detecting all 1GB of ram that you have installed.

Open the ram cover and make sure that you have clipped the ram into place properly.

Hi i need instructions on how to install a memory card in an old sony vaio pcg-f190 are ther any downloadable ? thanks

Hi astraspirit2. The Sony Vaio PCG-F190 uses 66MHz type memory and usually ships from Sony with 32/64MB of RAM. The Vaio PCG-F190 supports up to 192MB of RAM.
Most laptops have the memory compartment (at least the expansion socket or both) at the bottom. Flip the computer and you will see a little compartment (sometimes it even has a little chip logo). You will need a phillips #0 or #1 screwdriver. It's really simple, you insert the memory in the socket at an angle and then push it towards the laptop. I hope this helps.
Leo.

I need to open my sony vaio model pcg-8f1l laptop. I need to repair the power input connector. How do I open?

Okay, on a model pcg-8f1l, most of the goodies, RAM, CPU, etc are accessible through discrete panels in the back, bit the keyboard and much of the bapanel stuff is accessed by removing the speaker perforated shroud (one small screw on the left and thebn slide the shroud to the right. This gives you access to the keyboard and at least have to the scress that keep the upper and lower halves together. The rest of the screws are sprinkled arount the rear case. Good luck a keep track of which screws go where.

I want to upgrade my ram what type of ram should i use and how what is the maximum amount of ram i can upgrade to?

Hi,
Memory Upgrade for Sony VAIO PCG-K35 Laptop, the Sony VAIO PCG-K35 Laptop takes the PC2100 DDR SDRAM SODIMMs Memory Type, and comes installed with 512 MB = 256 MB (removable) + 256 MB (removable) of Memory. You can upgrade your Sony VAIO PCG-K35 Laptop to up to a maximum of 1.0 GB Memory, the system has 2 sockets to install Memory, already with 512 MB = 256 MB (removable) + 256 MB (removable) standard Memory installed. For best Laptop performance use the maximum amount of allowed Memory per slot for your Laptop.
