Hi Hodgkin3...

You will need to do a HARD RESET on your Palm. BEFORE you do that make sure you do a HOTSYNC to save ALL information to your PC. Once you do a Hard Reset everything on your PDA will be wiped and restored back to the original setup that you had out of the box.

Once you have backed-up your Palm, hold down the OFF button while depressing the RESET button. You will receive a message on the display that ask if you want to reset the palm (as long as you are ready to wipe clean your PDA), reply YES.

I have a Palm Tungsten E2. I just got a new computer and downloaded the hotsync software from Palm in hopes to back up my Tungsten E2 by syncing it to the new computer. It is now asking me for a password...

Try using 0000 - that is four zeros - or 1234.
Those are the usual default passwords given by that manufacturer. When all else fails, contact the manufacturer! If you haven't already tried simply pressing the Enter Key with no password in the dialog box first.
Good Luck!

Tungsten E: difficulty starting and turning off

PalmOne had a manufacturing issue in the Tungsten E and E2 PDA versions.

Bottom line is the On/Off switch is not properly soldered (enough soldering amount) so is easy that breaks the soldering joint of the switch to the main board.

The repair requires to open the PDA, remove very carefully the mainboard, and put straight (vertical) and re-solder the switch again.

It is needed a minimum of tools for it (soldering iron, torx screwdriver, wire soldering, plastic pry tool), and some skills and experience in fixing electronics.

Also, you can get with a radio or TV repair techniocian, and ask specifically to resolder such On/Off switch.

Best regards,

Hi : This means your battery must be as dead can be. Therefore it seems to be getting straight power only when you plug in the charger. Or your on/off button is dead. Are you able to turn it off/on when you have charge plugged. If so then I suggest getting a new battery for the E2 Palm and you should be back up and running. If this is not the case then it is your on/off button in which it could be just the contact or the switch itself. I can suggest someone in US if you like, else I can handle it but I am in AUS.

Up-grading from tungsten E2 to TX existing SD card not recognised

What size SD card are you using? TX supports 2Gig cards with no prb. I did hear that some are having prbs with 4Gig cards. Also, make sure that the card isn't locked from being read, by checking the little slider knob on the card.
