My 2007 dakota 4x4 quad cab has erratic shifting problem

I believe if the throttle position sensor signal does not match the signal from some other (forget which) the computer will not allow converter lock up. Fix problem with TPS first.

its probably the kickdown cable look under the hood its the cable that runs next to the throttle cable see if there's alot of slack or if its too tight and not letting it release all the way.

If the trans fluid may need to be changed and filter and it would put in a can off sea foam for trans in it it is awesome stuff

Did you disconnect the battery for 5 minuted after the parts were installed to reset the system parameters? If not do that and see if it corrects the problems.

Symptoms

- Vehicle may not shift into the highest gear

Possible causes
- Low transmission fluid level
- Dirty transmission fluid
- Faulty torque converter clutch solenoid valve
- Torque converter clutch solenoid valve harness or connectors
- Torque converter clutch solenoid valve circuit is open or shorted

When is the code detected?
Torque Converter Clutch (TCC) unlocked for 10 sec., ECM commands converter lock-up and did not record engine speed drop.

P0740 JEEP Description
The torque converter clutch solenoid valve is activated, with the gear in D4, by the Transmission Control Module (TCM) in response to signals sent from the vehicle speed and the Engine Control Module (ECM). Lock-up piston operation will then be controlled. When the torque converter clutch solenoid valve is activated, the torque converter lockup clutch will engage creating a 1 to 1 RPM ratio between the transmission input shaft and the rotational speed of the torque converter.

Lock-up operation, however, is prohibited when A/T fluid temperature is too low.

When the accelerator pedal is depressed (less than 2/8) in lock-up condition, the engine speed should not change abruptly. If there is a big jump in engine speed, there is no lock-up.

When you recharged the vehicle did you have it vacuumed?

try disconnecting the battery for 10 minutes. Then if you have a remote lock, lock and unlock three times in a row as this will often reset the computer. Or, borrow a code reader from one of the parts stores and see what codes are stored. Once you have the code, go online and Google it.

hav u done your needed maintenance like checking oil level-itz done with engine going in park also shift cable needs ajusting or solenoids on the electronic models if alot of miles then a rebilt is posible am tired and its late-try testing the tps sensor 1st has to with shifting***

The fork Inside the transfercase is broken for sure change the fork it could also be bend try this good luck my friend

Speed sensor is bad,It is located on the rear axle.
Once replaced,Make sure to reset the computer.
