Can`t pair Garmin Forerunner 50 with footpod

I already own a Forerunner 50 with HRM but wanted a footpod so bought a whole new watch and footpod package as it was much cheaper than the footpod alone. The problem is that I can`t pair the new footpod with my existing watch with the HRM. Obviously I don`t want to go out with 2 watches on so is there anyway I can un-pair the footpod with the watch it came with and then pair it to my existing watch

Hi,

I've been having the same problem. I couldn't pair my footpod, but my heart rate monitor was working. I've only had the 50 for about eight weeks.

I reset the watch, holding view mode and Start/Stop at the same time.
This didn't do any good.

I swapped the battery in the HRM with that in the foot pod. The foot pod synched the HRM didn't.

Solution duff battery. I'd change yours it will probably do the trick.

Hope it helps

Yes, was indeed a (near) dead battery in our footpod. Replaced it with a new one (couple of bucks) and she paired up nearly straight away to our Garmin Forerunner 405. I think part of the problem is that to turn on the footpod, you just give it a shake. This probably means it's being continually activated while being distributed from Garmin warehouse to the shop to end user, so when you finally get it (ordered ours from Amazon) the battery is fairly low on power?

Read this BEFORE you buy a new Garmin footpod because of non-detection issues after replacing batttery.

My battery died and after changing it with a new one I've not been able to detect the footpod with my 910xt until now. I notice that in the cap or lid of the footpod where the battery sits before closing it sits a white piece with contacts for the battery. I had inadvertently taken this out when replacing the battery, which is fine BUT you have to put it back in a certain position. If you look very closely at the cap where the battery sits you will notice there are tiny grooves where the contacts should sit into. As soon as I line these up with the white contact piece, voila! Footpod was immediately detected. Try it if you are having issues after replacing a new battery.

Garmin won't recognize footpod

As your Forerunner 50 first time was syncronized with your husbands footpod, now it is linked to him and that's why it can't find yours. You may even have to reinstall software, but I'm not sure. Try this link and you may find wht you are looking for:

Can't pair garmin forerunner 50 with hrm and food pod

First you have to assume the battery that comes with your HRM would be new - keep in mind that it may be stored in the warehouse for many moons.
Given that, open and take out the battery - that should make a hard reset on the HRM itself. Restore the battery and try the manual pairing again.
The heart icon should pop up again.

Otherwise, you have to suspect the battery is low and need to be replaced.

Good luck

I bought a Forerunner 50 with HRM and Footpod. Initially the footpod wouldn't work, but HRM would. So changed the battery and footpod is fine. However, HRM now won't work. Just replaced the battery in that...

I had a similar problem. First my hrm worked and the footpod did not. Then I tried to pair manually (for the umpeenth time) when the hrm was too far away, and I lost that pairing, and it still didn't find my footpod. Then I wet the hrm sensors and tried pairing again and then it picked it up. Finally, I switched batteries in the hrm and footpod and then it picked up the footpod. Now I'm headed to the store to stock up on batteries. Kinda upsetting that I have to buy batteries when I just got the thing, but probably costs less than the postage for sending it back!
