How to unclog vacum. overheats and cuts off

Check all the filters, put a new bag in or wash the cloth bag, check the outlet filter (if it has one) is also clean. If it still cuts out , there could be a problem with the motor. If the unit has a hose, take the hose off and try it again, the hose may be blocked.

How to replace filler tube on Kirby G4 vacuum?

first take cloth bag off, held on at bottom with bag clamp, then wash cloth bag in washing machine at 40, inner hose is held on by 2 cable ties top and bottom, your new hose should come with 2 new cable ties, ask kirby agent when ordering, them simply refit.

There isNo suction on Kirby sentria

  1. Put the hose and see if suction is good. If it is - you may have had nozzle installed wrong or brush roll may be worn out (bristles must be sticking out of the nozzle by about 1/8 of an inch).
  2. If there is no suction with the hose either - check if bag is not overfilled to the point where dirt is blocking the fill tube hole.
  3. If two above are fine - something must be blocking the air passage from the fan to the bag. Check for clogs in the fill tube (tube inside the cloth bag) and mini emptor (bag bottom plastic part) and also see if there is something blocking the exhaust on the vacuum. You may not even see it so use a piece of wire. Once I found a sock there and it was so close to the fan that I could not see it in the hole and was only able to get it out using a homemade hook made from a coat hanger.

How do i tell if I'm getting enough vacuum

Place you hand over the end of the hose and if the motor speeds up you are getting enough vacuum. The problem will be either in a full bag or something blocking the hose in the section on the floor (bit of paper--cloth etc.

I do not get fullstream of water when spray,

Refer to the discussion at the other thread: http://www.fixya.com/support/t3309646-pump_motor_sounds_like_running_but_not

You will need to remove the top domed lid to access the working parts. Refer to http://www.fixya.com/support/t3543424-two_top_sections_held_together

Examine the water lines to ensure they are attached to the pump. If you feel you can do so without shocking yourself on any exposed electrical connectors, try disconnecting the inlet hose. Buy a two-foot section of the same size hose from the hardware store and connect it to the pump inlet. Plug in2_bing.gif the unit (be careful!!!) and use the pump switch to see if it draws water. Then try reconnecting the inlet and connect the outlet to the new hose to see if the pump pulls water from through its suction tube and will pump through the new hose.

If either diagnosis helps, you will know that which hose is blocked and you will need to try to clear it out. Detach the hose which is suspect, so that you have just the hose as best you can. You might try using a wire clothes hangar that you straighten out, or you can have an auto mechanic shoot compressed air into one end. Good luck!

The is a pice of clothes sucked into the plastic

Try removing the hose from the unit and using a broom handle, push it through the hose. If this fails....straighten out a wire coat hangar and make a small "hook" in the end and use that to grab it. Let me know if this works. Good Luck.

Troubleshoot a problem with central vac - not in the vac hose

The only thing you can use really is a plumbers snake.
Not sure if thats what its called in the States. Its a long flexible metal spiral spring that plumbers use to clear blocked drains

My DC05 Dyson suction has stopped...there are no blockages, the seals are good, there seems to be more suction coming from a yellow box which is situated at the top of the removable cannister. There is...

My Dyson had exactly the same problem. I found the problem was caused by a blockage in the hose. Take the hose out where it joins the cleaner (it will come out if you pull it downwards gently) and take the hose out of the handle by squeezing the yellow buttons on either side. I pushed a rubber alkathene pipe down and found a piece of plastic was blocking it even though at first I was sure it wasn't blocked.

KIRBY G-6 RUNS BUT HAS NO SUCTION, BELT IS GOOD, FAN APPEARS TO BE INTACT

1. Put the hose instead of the nozzle and see if suction is good with the hose. If it is – brush roll may be worn out (bristles must be sticking out of the nozzle by about 1/8 of an inch).
2. If there is no suction with the hose either – check if bag is not overfilled to the point where dirt is blocking the fill tube hole.
3. If two above are fine – something must be blocking the air passage from the fan to the bag. Check for clogs the fill tube (tube inside the cloth bag) and mini emptor (bag bottom plastic part) and also see if there is nothing in the exhaust on the vacuum. You may not even see it so use a piece of wire. Once I found a sock there and it was so close to the fan that I could not see it in the hole and got a grip of it only a hook made out of old coat hanger.
