Question about Microsoft Xbox 360 Console

Black screen with white bots on screen.(Xbox 360)

My Xbox 360 got one red ring(E74) a week before this happened, it was working again but with a bit of texture problems. I tried changing the HDTV settings on my standard T.V then screen suddenly turn black. I turned the console off and back on again, the screen was black with white bot moving around the screen. I also plugged the xbox 360 to a HDTV but it wouldn't recognise the console. I would appreciate it if you could help me.

Thanks for helping but is there any other way I can fix it without messing around with the internal parts of the xbox 360. I would gladly open my 360 but i'm still under 3 years warranty with microsoft and I read somewhere that if you fiddle around with your 360 they will reject your 360.

It's probably just the red ring, you can fix that with almost ALL 3 red ring fixes.

Cause there both CAUSED by the motherboard shifting.

Google PENNY TRICK, it doenst always work UNTIL the box is completely screwed back in.

Xclamp trick. Google taht too, it costs money for the kit, but it works like everytime and there are TONS of tutorials online for it.

Audio is working fine but the screen is black with small white dots all over.

This is a problem with the GPU, you will likely soon be victim to the Red ring of death. I would suggest leaving the console on for a full night so you can get the red ring of death so that microsoft will allow you to return it for repairs. Good luck.....

E74 on xbox 360

i would recommend you turning it back and getting it repaired if you have a warranty, or you can try the towel trick. let it overheat while putting a towel wrapped around the console and it should be working again, thats if you dont want your xbox in perfect condition.

Xbox 360 Elite - Ring is flashing red (1/4) of the circle- E74 error coming up

I recently had the E74 system error which started with as ‘black snow’ on the screen. There is an extended 3 year warranty that covers E74 and 3 Red Lights errors only.

I looked in to fixing it myself but thought might as well let someone else graze their hands getting the case off!

Despite the horror stories of it taking forever MS seemed to have pulled their finger out and made this a very efficient process, I got mine back within a week (I live in the UK and repairs get shipped to Germany).

Here's a quick breakdown of the process:

1. Go to www.xbox.com/support and click on the relevant link relating to your problem.

2. Go through the walkthrough. If you've still no joy you can click a link to pick whether you are a US resident or not.

3. Type in serial number of the console (you don't need any receipts, I bought mine off eBay).

4. They send you a shipping label and a link to arrange UPS to come and pick up your console.

5. Bite your nails and rock manically in a corner until your console comes back (you can track the whole process at xbox.com).

I've sent back a first generation 360 and an Elite. Certainly worth considering as they will repair or replace your console!

How do i fix the x box 360 3 red rings of death

The Xbox 360 e74 error is a rather common problem on Xbox consoles, with similar roots to the now infamous red ring of death problem.
The e74 issue is actually caused by a problem with the scaler (ANA or HANA) chips located next to the graphics processor inside your Xbox 360.
It is believed that the error with the scaler video chip which causes the e74 error on your Xbox 360 is caused by overheating. This is also the cause of other errors such as the no video problem, as well as red lights in the power ring of an Xbox console.

To fix the Xbox 360 e74 code, there are a few steps you need to take-
1. Firstly, leave this article open, go to your Xbox 360 console and then remove the AV cable. Blow any dust out of it, then re-insert it snugly back into the console until a clicking is heard. Power on your console again and see if the problem has been fixed.
2. If that does not work, borrow another AV cable (get one off a friend or family member, or from your local video game rental shop) Try using this one in your Xbox 360.
3. If replacing the AV cable does not work, then you will have to repair the scaler chip and graphics processor inside your Xbox in order to fix the e74 problem. To do this, you will need an Xbox 360 repair guide, which will contain the video instruction files you need to be able to fix your console properly. You cannot fix the e74 yourself without one.
It is important to note that most Xbox repair guides focus on fixing the "red ring of death". However, the process for repairing the e74 will also be covered in the same guide as well, as it is extremely similar.

Xbox 360

What is the error code at the bottom of the screen & check for flashing red lights on the power button if 3 illuminate it the infamous RROD(Red Ring of Death-google it) which you will get a free repair for if its the bottom right quadrant flashing red then its most probably E74 or E61. E61 is a hard drive related problem so try playing without it, & E74 is the AV cable snapped inside or the GPU/CPU inside the xbox 360 has weak solders on it, I suggest MS support ASAP.
