Since the motor is humming we know it is recieving voltage, try spinning the blower wheel by hand and see if the motor starts up, if it does the capacitor needs to be replaced, if not the blower motor needs to be replaced.

SOURCE: Coleman forced air furnace blower

Rmove the two screws holding the blower in place and slide it out. With the power off, rotate the wheel and inspect for debris or an impingement. If everything turns easy, you have a bad motor or start capacitor. If you have rubbing, adjust the wheel. If the motor will not turn, replace it.

SOURCE: Goodman furnace GMPN080-4 Getting 4 RED blinks/Open Limit Swtch

You have a limit switch located in the furnace (a little bigger than a dime and located near the center of the front panel, sometimes the switch is mounted to a small fiberglass board) . There will be two wires going to it. They sometimes trip so often that they fail to automatically reset(due to dirty filters or undersized ductwork). You can SHUT OFF POWER TO THE FURNACE, then remove the two screws holding the switch in the furnace, pull the switch out of the furnace and tap on it and wipe it off.
The switch may work a few more times but should be replaced with the same size and type. You will see some rating printed on the switch somewhere. Write down all the numbers and get a replacemet from a furnace/AC supply house. If you have a meter and know how to use it you could check the switch for continuity.

Sometimes just a tap on the switch will get it going. There will also be a couple of rollout switches that could be tripped. They have little buttons on them to reset them. If they trip it may have other issues to be solved.
Hope this helps!
Matt

SOURCE: Burner ignites and goes out (Goodman Gas-fired furnace)

Hi,
The problem you have is water in the exhaust pipe.
Check to see if the pipe has sagged anywhere or if there is a trap in the line.
If you hear gurgling then it is definetly water....
Some times can be hard to find, even a pipe 1/4 full will cause problems. They are very sensitive to flue problems.
Make sure that the flue pipe either runs back to the furnace or out to the outside, a continuos slope either way witha high spot in the middle.
Also check the bottom drain of the blower if it has one, have had them plug and trap water also..

I hope that this will help you to solve your problem!

Thanks for using Fixya!!

Blower motor turns on then shuts off after a minute on my goodman furnace

The motor is shutting off on it's overload. Make sure the capcitoris the proper voltage and microfarad rating. Also, make sure two speeds are not hooked up at the same time to the motor, for example if there is a motor lead on the heat terminal, there should not be one on heat/cool terminal. If all checks out good younwill need a new motor

Verify if you have 120 volts from the control board. Easy way to check is to bypass the board, you can do this by using a small wire and jump the L1 wire with the low speed motor wire, if the motor starts up the board is bad and will need to be replaced. You can also use a meter and check voltage between the low speed motor wire and the Common wire which is typically white in color. If you do not have voltage the board is bad.

Heat....Furnace will not start up worked fine last year it is getting power... I can hear I light hum in the furnace but it will not start it process

If its a high or mid efficiency furnace most of the time the sequence of operation goes as follows: tstat calls for heat (R&W at tstat ) ventor motor starts, pressure switch closes, spark or hsi lights pilot or main burners. main blower motor comes on. From your description of a humming noise it sounds like maybe the ventor motor is seized.

It sounds like you got a tough one there. When you say the blower starts up and then the igniter comes on are you refering to induced draft motor or main blower. The proper sequence is for the thermostat to call for heat at which point the induced draft motor should come on and run for 30-45 seconds, then the igniter should heat up for a few seconds then gas valve should open and main burner should light. After limit switch reaches set point for fan on ,blower should come on till after heat has reached thermostat setting then burner should go out, and blower run until fan off setting is reached on limit switch. If your furnace is not following this sequence and then not always doing the same thing in the same order,I would recommend that you change out board again. I have had several problems similar to this with Goodman units and all but one time installing new board solved it. That time I did everything I knew to do and talked to factory service techs repeatedly and finally installed new furnace. As far as your question about insulation,. As long as it is fire proof I can't see where it would hurt anything. Sorry I'm not more help. Good luck and thanks.

Sytem lockout in the goodman heather

Turn the unit off, then back on this should reset the fault. If it does not
go into heating mode make sure thermostat is turned all the way up.
If nothing still doesnt happen then you need to make sure a breaker is not tripped.

If the furnace starts, then a hot surface ignitort should glow, if it doesnt
either it is cracked or the induced draft blower didnt come on. If it did glow and the burners lit and shut off, then the flame sensor is dirty and needs to be cleaned
