Question about Zanussi Washing Machines

Zanussi zwh7120p water not stopping

Bought and installed this for the first time this evening, and set it up exactly as i would have done my old zanussi, which had no problems at all. As soon as i turned on the water inlet, it started filling up with water. which was interesting, as the machine was switched to "off". if i leave it for an extended period it just seems to fill up the drum, draining does work fine though. has anyone else had this problem, how can i fix it, or is it normal?

It is not normal. It's a warranty problem. At best, the timer may not have been installed properly. At worst, it's defective. The dealer owes you a replacement or repair, unless it's a used as-is unit.

SOURCE: Will not advance from fill cycle

Check your drain hose to make sure you have not sealed the top of the standpipe (drain line), or shoved your drain hose too far down in the pipe. If you do not allow for an air gap, your washer will fill and begin to siphon through the drain line. It is common for folks to seal the standpipe or shove the drain hose down in the line too far in the belief that it will prevent overflows, or get rid of that nasty drain smell. This can be bad because it does not allow for the proper air gap to keep the water from being siphoned right out of the machine. You may have a tight fitting that doesn't siphon every time which may explain why the problem doesn't occur all the time. Double check to make sure. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: Washing machine filling with water when switched off

Electric inlet valve doesn't close properly. You should get it replaced ASAP. It is a cheap part and quite easily replaceable. Turn off water to your machine until you fix this and keep it unplugged.

I have a Zanussi Washer/Dryer Model ZWD 1270W. When I set the machine to wash (any cycle), it fills with water, the water jet starts, it takes the soap powder then it immediately skips to the 'drain'...

If you go to this website, they have manuals and you can ask questions also.

Just one thought. Have you unplugged the washer for a few seconds then plugged it back in? It's possible the "brain" needs to be reset.

Old house with old water cylinder, water pouring out of the spout and larger than normal electricity bill?

Hello grant.... You must stop that water flow immediately or your bill will be even larger next time it arrives. If the water is pouring out of the spout attached to the pressure relief valve you may simply need to replace that valve. To do so, turn off the power to the tank and use a wrench to remove the pressure relief valve. GO to any hardware store and get an exact replacement valve and a small tube of plumbers pipe dope. Dope up the threads and install the new valve. Joe
