Install the driver... then install the card. you may have to manual set which video source the computer is using.... ideally you want it to boot to pci first

Are you using onboard graphics?

You do not have have enough graphics RAM. Bettr to purchase Nvidia or ATI graphics card with atleast 1GB of RAM.

While installing Graphics card, do remember to disable onboard graphics from BIOS.

Is the ASUS A8N-VM PCI Express 2.0 compliant?

not that I know. It may support newer pci-express graphic cards, but surely they won't run at full-power with pci express 1.0 lower specs. if you're not satisfied with your motherboard, you should buying a new one that supports pci-express 2.0

Which graphic cards work smoothly with dg41rq

Hi daniyalijaz,

That card should work on that board. The board handles PCI Express* x16 and that's what that adapter is. Do you have the current drivers for both the motherboard and adapter. If your trouble still exists, I'd make sure that the graphics card is returnable for a new one.

Good Luck,

Mark

Version of PCI Express

my motherboard has a PCI-E 1.0 it's an Asus Commando graphics is 9600GT which is PCI-E 2.0 and it runs fine till now no prob about that mate PCI-E 1.0 and 2.0 is backwards compatible so it should work fine make sure your graphics card is working @ x16 coz when I first plug my graphics it runs only @ x2 then I reset the bios and re-seat the graphics now fully functional x16 of PCI-E lanes.

Installing NVidia 8500GT XFX 256MB graphics to A8N-VM Motherboard

The chances are that you have an old motherboard which is not compatable with the new graphic card. Or you may be running windows 98 and are downloading the driver for xp or visa versa. The probable solution, will be to sell the new card on ebay and buy the best old card you can off ebay. Or just make do with the card you already had in your computer. If you are determined to have a better graphics card. A motherboard upgrade with better graphic card may be the best answer or buy a better spec pc second hand if you don't have much money. You'll probably waiste a lot of time trying to get the new card to work and it probably never will.
