HP W2072a speakers don't work

The monitor is connected correctly but the speakers don't produce sound. The HP manual is of no use. I've tried everything I know to do and nothing has worked so far.

SOURCE: Speakers not working.

The easy way to trouble shoot sound problems is to plug the speakers into another device like a portable player and see if they produce sound. If you had sound from your portable device but no sound from your speakers then your speakers have died. You can see if the computer is producing any sound by pluging your headphones from the portable into the computer and see if you have sound.

SOURCE: I cant get sound from

if your computer came with a motherboard disc the sound drivers could be on it
click start control panel administrive tools computer management device manager scroll to sound, video and game controllers you might see a yellow question mark? Right click to reinstall drivers or uninstall
click start control panel sounds and audio, volume, advanced, speakers make sure you have selected the
(((appropriate speakers))) also audio you will find 3 drop down lists make sure you have the correct settings there
also
click start control panel sounds and audio devices you can adjust the volume there also select speaker volume you can change your settings there you can also tick in the box place icon in taskbar
if his does not fix the problem

have you tried this control panel sounds and audio, volume, advanced, speakers select the appropriate speakers from the drop down list or navigate to the device manager scroll to system devices + to expand, system speaker right click properties then select use this device (enable) also you might check
the speakers plug/outlet is usually at the back of the computer you will have to open up the computer to check the lead attached to the rear of the input plug make sure the connection is good
try cleaning your computer of dust using a fine air blower from a compressor making VERY sure that there is no MOISTURE in the air line specifically around the sound card and the CPU central processing unit dust causes static to build up in a computer

SOURCE: I have an HP Pavilion

if it requires 9volts then it should be good. no problem with your windows vista. its just that your speaker wont power on. maybe you got to have the wrong polarity. try to recorrect the polarity. i mean put the negative to possitive and positive to negative. if the wire has a color put the black to red and red to black.

I cannot hear any sound from my Dell monitor 1702FP. Are there speakers installed within the monitor?. VGA cable is connected. When I use a spare monitor using the VGA cable the sound is loud and clear. ...

The Dell 1702FP doesn't have speakers. The specs of the Dell 1702FP are available here: http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/monitors/1702fp/en/specs.htm . (BTW neither does the Dell 1704FPT.) However, some Dell monitors can have a sound bar (speaker set-up) mounted on the monitor.

VGA cables don't carry sound. Check if a second cable (an audio patch cable is connected to the computer and the second monitor). (There are some cables that actually bundle the 3.5 mm patch cable with the video cable for convenience. (I've seen a number of DVI cables with that bundle option.) The plugs will separate into separate units at each end.

Other monitors do have speakers built in - look for a 3.5 mm audio input jack with the rest of the input connections on your monitor. There are some monitors that accept an HDMI input with a 3.5 mm audio out jack; these monitors don't have speakers and thus are enabling a daisy chain to connect the speakers to the monitor. So you do need to be careful and look for the audio in label.

You can attach a set of speakers to your computer using the audio out (look for a lime green 3.5 mm jack on the back of a desktop). For laptops or to use the front audio ports, look for a headphone jack.

I hope this helps. Please add a comment with more information about your monitor and computer for additional assistance.

I just hooked up an AOC monitor to two computers. Sound is working on one but not working on my HP Pavilion. How do I resolve that? I don't have any extra speakers.

The sound goes out of the computer to a set of speakers. If the monitor has speakers built into it, then the sound comes out of them. Each computer must have a connection to the sound card (the little green hole) to speakers. If you want sound from the second computer, unplug the sound cable from the one computer and plug it into the other one.

I'VE SUCCESSFULLY INSTALLED MY SOUND CARD (C-MEDIA CMI8738 FOR XP) AND I SEE NO CONFLICT WITH OTHER DEVICES ON MY PC BUT I DON'T HEAR A SOUND FROM MY HEADSET WHEN I TRY TO TEST TO PLAY A MUSIC....

I'm assuming that the previous audio drivers have been uninstalled. The card must be made aware that you have speakers and/or headphones plugged in. First open Control Panel > Sounds and make sure the volume is set at maximum and the correct setup is selected - stereo , desktop speakers. Then take out whatever you have plugged in it, reboot the pc, wait for everything to stop (antivirus update, the launching of all the programs) then open the C-Media Power Mixer and verify in there that all the volumes are at maximum. Then connect the plug in the green socket of the card - a popup should appear to ask you what you plugged in. If it doesn't then you will have to do it manually:

Sounds like you've lost audio output from the sound card. Unplug the audio cable from the sound card and plug in a set of ear buds or headphones. If you don't get any sound your driver's not working. Try reinstalling the old driver.

Check the audio jack plug from monitor to cpu if connected correctly. The audio jack plug should be connected to the sound card for audio out. You can also check if the volume in the monitor is adjusted or mute

* if you can connect to the internet, update your drivers using your drivers CD for the sound card. If you don't have driver CD, you can visit your manufacturer's support site and check for audio drivers.

1. Verify the source of the signal - Look for any antennas that may have been hooked up, and verify connection has not been moved or removed.
2. Test with a different output by plugging in some headphones, and recheck the volume through the headphones.
3. Check that the A/B switch for the speakers has not been moved, and that they are switched to the correct speakers.
4. Try AM and FM for any signals both with speakers and then headphones.

Good luck!
