Question about Maytag MER5875QA Electric Kitchen Range
We have a MayTag range model number MER5870. We continually get an error code of F1 on the display panel, and the oven shuts itself off. We're not sure what F1 means and what we can do to fix the problem. Please someone help us! Thanks.
Migs, on a Maytag the F1 indicates there is a problem with the touch-pad or control itself. Usually, it's the touch pad. Try killing the power to the range and remove the touch pad ribbon from the control board. Clean it with an eraser. Power back up and see if the error comes back. If it does, remove the ribbon cable again and power up with-out it attached. If the same error still returns, then I would suspect the control board itself. Catriver..post back.

The F1 error code on this model of Maytag range indicates a problem with the electronic control board for the oven or with the oven temperature sensor probe. A technician will need to diagnose and repair this type of failure.
The technician will normally check the resistance of the temperature probe. If the temperature probe resistance is normal, it is likely that the electronic oven control will need to be replaced.
