How can I make printer recognize refilled cartridge on lexmark prevail pro 705

I've refilled the black cartridge with ink by peeling back label below chip being careful not to harm the chip or overflow the cartridge and replaced label on the cartridge. Now I've inserted the cartridge back in the printer and the printer display still says low ink and will not print.

Refilled cartridges will not reset the ink levels. The printer will still recognize it as empty.

Please be advised that refilled/remanufactured cartridges could damage your printhead and will not be covered under warranty.

The chances of "damaging" any printhead are so remote it ridiculous. Lexmark has intentionally rigged their product so that the public is FORCED to buy expensive ink cartridges. There is NO more chance of printhead damage changing with a Lexmark cartridge than refilling a Lexmark cartridge. The physical action is precisely the same. What you are witnessing is clear proof of GREED and how $$$$$$$$$ corrupts the hearts and souls of people.

This is so NOT true. What you're witnessing is clear proof of severe greed for $$$$$$ as it corrupts the souls of mankind. Refilling a cartridge with the same ink used in the original cartridge is easy. Lexmark should be sued for committing such an unethical plot/scheme FORCING people to buy their cartridges. I will NEVER again buy Lexmark and the one I have now is GONE.

Consider the facts. If it's "manmade" then there's a way around it. This is one of the most unethical moves on the part of any company to pull such a stunt as this to FORCE people to use their product. I see these little chips and will attempt 1 last time to cover them, or use a magnet and burn them out, or the Lexmark is GONE forever.

I used to have a printer that accepted Walgreen's refills with no problem.

SOURCE: refilling lexmark cartridges x2500

There are a couple ways to trick it into accepting the cartridge. You can put a different one in, take it out and then put the filled one in. Or you can find a refill kit with instructions on what contacts to cover with tape and you have to do it 2 or 3 times to get the printer to reset. Sometimes you can shut off the computer and printer for 20 min and start it up again. Or you can get the sledge hammer and smash the stupid printer before it sucks up your life savings and vow never to buy from a company that profits from causing problems that they tell you can only be solved by using more of their overpriced solutions.

Lexmark and Dell use a sensor in the cartridge to sense a low ink level. Once the sensor has been activated, you cannot reset it. The printer should work fine except for the fact that you'll have to override the "low ink" message on your computer.

Manufacurers don't make money on printer hardware. All the money is made from ink replacement, so they make it as difficult as possible to use anything other than the stuff you buy from them. Some (HP) put in chips for an "expiration" of the ink/toner. Go beyond the expiration date, the thing won't work.

SOURCE: Lexmark Pro 705 won't let me print after refilled

If you refill the regular lexmark 100 ink cartridges, you will not be able to use it because there is a rfid chip that track the ink usage. you will need to buy the 100a type which will let you print if the ink level is empty. since you have refill the 100 ink cartridge, you can swap the 100a chip to your 100 cartridge.

My Lexmark Impact S305 will not print in color.

If you're using a remanufactured/refilled cartridge, the printer will not be able to recognize those cartridges after the firmware update. The firmware update restricts use of refilled/remanufactured cartridges. That's to prevent damaging the printhead.

If you're using genuine Lexmark cartridges, please contact our technical support for assistance.

Hi there,

Check the settings of your printer, either in the software that came with it or the printing preferences in the Control Panel. If your ink tone is set too dark, it could be using a lot of ink. If this is not the case, then:

1) Clean the ink cartridges
2) Replace the ink cartridges as they may have expired. 3) Replace the printer and find one which uses cartridges that can perform more copies in a single fill.
