Question about Dell Latitude E6520 PC Notebook
Several times a day, my Latitude beeps. It is often a high-low pair of beeps. Ding-****. I have no external speakers. There must be a reason for these. Someone thought I needed a notification of an event. But what good is a beep if I don't know what it is for? I am not using Outlook, so it isn't incoming emails. I pretty much always have Firefox open; can web apps cause the beep?
The beeps are post during post the very first work is done by the ram, all the memory in the ram is first transferred to the hard disk, and remains 1 short beep : Normal POST - system is ok No beep : Power supply or system board problem Repeating short beeps: Power supply or system board problem 1 long, 1 short beep : System board problem Hope this helps
2 short beeps : POST Error - error code shown on screen
Continuous beep: Power supply, system board, or keyboard problem
1 long, 2 short beeps: Display adapter problem (MDA, CGA)
1 long, 3 short beeps: Enhanced Graphics Adapter (EGA)
3 long beeps : keyboard card

Make sure you have not accidentally used the FN+F5 key
That combination sets the laptop to use an external display.
If using that does not give you a display take a small torch (flashlight if in USA) and shine it at an angle on the laptop screen.
If you can see any sort of picture you would be looking at replacement of some minor parts to the laptop screen
Hope this gives you the information you need. If not add any extra information you may have and lets see if we can FixYa
It would be very decent of you to consider the quality of our expert’s answers and judge them accordingly as you pass through FixYa.
