SOURCE: changer does not work
Had the same problem!! Found the solution here under "Wont Play" question. Push that cd chngr magazine (holder) all the way into the unit and tap with a blunt object( Dont tap too hard,it's plastic!!) screw driver worked for me! Push the eject button and you'll hear the unit working! Pop it in and out and it seemed to unfreeze whatever was frozen!! It finally loaded a cd and started playing again. I checked all 6 and they were okay!!
Thanks support guys for your help!!

sounds like the changer was plugged into the antenna jack of the radio. this means that you can run it through any radio simply by sending a signal to a preset station on the radio and listening to it through tuner. the control unit ran the changer itself. you may be able to obtain replacement cables from pacparts.com

SOURCE: I have a 1996 Volvo
In your charger the disk is loaded and unloaded this way: When the load command is given the holding tray for the disk moves out, putting the disk in front of the mechanism; then the arm holding the motor places it with its flange in position; the locking lever with it's free spinning flange drops locking the disk to the motor; finally the tray retreats leaving the disk ready to be read. In your case it appears that the locking lever no longer disengages to release the disk - E-02 signals a mechanical failure of the cd mechanism..
To recover the disk you will have to dismantle the changer to access the mechanism, pull on the locking lever (hold in place by a spring) to release the disk and take it out. Then you will have to find out why the lever isn't releasing - defect in the mechanism, the motor that moves the lever has failed or the motor isn't powered because there is something wrong with the control board of the cd mechanism. In the worst case you will have a dead cd mechanism = the entire charger is dead, replacing it will be cheaper than repairing it.
For all of this you will at least a good experience in electronics - ask a friend who has done this before to help you. If there is noone to help you than just cut your losses and replace the changer.
