Question about Microsoft Flight Simulator X for Windows

In FS X. Aircraft have most of it missing from display. No wings, no undercarage. etc. Have higher that min system and XP SP3.

Any aircraft that is used displays with most of the body and wings missing. Have XP SP3 and Nvidia 8500 graphics card. I have tried everything and they just do not display all the aircraft.

Try reinstalling the game. It can be very graphics heavy though, so you may have to lower your settings to the minimum. You could also go to Microsoft's website and check for updates.

maybe your 're to far away from the engine and you cant hear it, even in real. but i dont think yhats it. check your audio settings.

hello, I am a private pilot. Your veering to the left MAY be caused by prop wash hitting left side of fin. This is known as P-Factor, and can be couteracted by right rudder. The direction of veer depends on rotation direction fo prop.

You need to assign the throttle function correctly WITHIN FSX settings area itself. Also calibrate the joystick in windows first. If you are not familiar with assigning FSX functions to your joystick, check the Learning Center section within FSX for step-by-step details.

Why do wings tend to bend upward on a plane?

The entire weight of the aircraft is being supported by the wings. Longer wings are designed to bend upwards to support that weight. Due to the curvature of the wings (more curved on top and flatter on bottom) there is low pressure on the top of the wings and higher pressure under the wings. So the wings are actually pulled up into the air by the low pressure over the top of them.

Familiarize yourself with the six pack.The six instruments in the center of the instrument panel used mostly for IFR (Instrument Flight Rules) and are always in the following order:

  • Top left: The "Airspeed Indicator" shows aircraft airspeed, in knots. (nautical miles) per hour. It also displays the airspeed limitations in white, green, yellow, and red arcs.

  • Top center: The "Artificial Horizon" Has a small aircraft symbol that depicts the aircraft required attitude,for level flight, and shows whether the aircraft is climbing or descending, as well as the angle of bank.

  • Top right: The "Altimeter" a three hand clock type instrument that shows altitude of the aircraft in feet MSL, (feet above mean sea level).

  • Lower left: The "Turn and Bank Indicator" is a dual instrument which tells your angle of bank and whether you are in a coordinated turn. Sometimes called the "Needle Ball". For straight and level flight, keep the wings level and the ball centered.

  • Lower center:The "Heading Indicator". A stable gyro instrument that shows the aircraft's current compass heading. Use the Control Wheel to keep the aircraft on the desired heading.

  • Lower right: The "Vertical Speed Indicator" which tells how fast you are losing or gaining altitude, in feet per minute. Keep this instrument at zero to maintain level flight.

Commercial have lights flashing whilst in the air. why?

It's not just commercial aircraft. In the US (and most of the world), all aircraft will have those lights during night operations. [There are a few exceptions, such as aircraft without electrical systems - and yes, there are such things.]

The steady lights on the wings are called "position lights" (also called "navigation lights" or "anti-collision lights" or similar names). The one on the left wing tip is steady red (that's the left side, as you are sitting IN the aircraft). The one on the right side wing tip is green. There will normally also be a white tail position light (steady) on the tail.

In addition, most aircraft have strobe lights. A white light on each wingtip is common, as is a red strobe light on the tail or belly.

The purpose of the lights is two-fold (well, actually, the only REAL purpose is to help avoid collisions!). First, the strobe lights are there primarily to catch your attention. A flashing light is much easier to spot than a fixed light. The other lights are there to indicate direction. At night, it is very hard to quickly determine the direction of travel (left to right, away vs. straight at you, etc.). How does a pneumatic system work on an aircraft piston engine?

The piston engine is the power plant. It generates thrust by turning the propeller, electrical power through the generator, hydraulic power with engine oil and/or a hydraulic system. It also sometimes has a vacuum pump in the form of a sliding vane pump to operate the mechanical gyros instruments. On a piston engine there is no "bleed air" supply. For the cabin pressure pneumatic system, piston aircraft, take compressed air from the compressor side of the turbocharger (or supercharger old airplanes) and routed into the cabin as long as the engine is running. The outflow valve which regulates how much air is let out of the cabin is used to maintain the desired cabin pressure. The cabin outflow valve is controlled by a cabin pressure controller where the pilot sets the cabin pressure and climb or descent rates. This is the only pneumatic system I can think of other than "de-icing boots" on the wing leading edge that are pneumatically operated.
A "receiver" is usually associated with a receiver/dryer in an air conditioning system.

Have hobbyzone firebird commander 2, new to flying. Could not get it off the ground, kept veering to right - and my friend's new, same plane, also did the same, yet veered to the left. Help

Some RTF aircraft are not quite RTF as they sometimes need trim adjustments. Also, a wing could be heavier on one side than the other as RTF models are mass produced with cheap and cheaply assembled components.

For a quick balance check, remove the prop and obtain an electrical terminal block (aka Chocolate block). You will need just the brass terminal insert with both screws.

Remove the prop and put the terminal onto the prop spindle. On the other open end of this, you need to insert a small curtain hook (ones that are used to hold up net curtain wires). Insert this into the other end. To the hook, tie a short length of nylon or cotton. Suspend the cotton from a platform such as a shelf. You need to be able to hang the aircraft without it touching the wall but it needs to be close to the wall. Once done, obtain a tape rule and measure the leading edge END of the wing. Move the tape to the other wing and make sure that the same position aligns with the same mark on the rule. If it doesn't, you need to add a minute amount of weight. About a gram, to the higher wing.

If it is fine, then remove the cotton and then tie a loop into it. Make another cotton string loop identical and hang it one plane length away. Using a small piece of sticky tape, tape the cotton to the tape and then to the extreme top of the tail fin. Loop the other cotton loop over the prop spindle, making in effect a cradle system. Again, use a tape rule to ensure that the both wings sit at exactly the same height. Add a piece of tape to the lighter wing to level it. A better way is to use nail varnish as it levels itself and prevents wing surface issues.

If both wings are okay, then it may be the tail fin rudder. It could be stuck on the right side rather than in the middle. This makes the aircraft fly to the right the faster the speed is, even taking off. Try trimming the rudder with the trim control on the transmitter or servo link.
