Question about Lexmark Interpret S405 Wireless All-in-One InkJet Printer

Lexmark Interpret S405 will not print color

Following clearing a paper jam, the printer will not print in color. There doesn't appear to be anything that has fallen into the printer or any jamming. Also checked gray scale and b/w settings and they are not selected- color printing is.

First, make sure that you're using genuine Lexmark cartridges. If not, replace the color cartridges.

Second, try updating the firmware of your printer. Just go to http://bit.ly/ghfW8H to download the firmware update.

Third, perform a maintenance on the cartridges. To do that, on the control panel of your printer, press on Setup > Maintenance > Deep Clean Printhead.

If the steps above doesn't help and you're using genuine Lexmark cartridges and provided that your printer is still under warranty, please contact our technical support team to have the printhead replaced.

If not, you can go to www.lexmark.com to purchase a printhead.

SOURCE: Lexmark X5470 printer says, "Clear paper jam, then press check mark."

  1. Turn the printer off and open the access cover.
  2. Look for any obstructions in the paper path and remove them if necessary. (It is possible to move the carrier assembly with the power off.)
  3. Turn the printer on, load some paper, and press the Form Feed button. (On the X83, press the Select button.)
  4. Watch the paper as it feeds through and try to determine where the jam is occurring.
  5. Check to see if all the rollers are turning.

    If all the rollers are turning, there may be something in the feed path that you can't see. Go to step 6.
    If not, there is probably a feed motor or a gear problem and the printer may require service.
  6. If the paper is jamming under the carrier assembly, you may be able to fix it using the manual feed slot.
  7. Turn the printer off.
  8. Take a #10 envelope and feed it through the left side of the manual feed slot until it comes right through the printer to the back of the exit rollers.
  9. Move it up and down first, and then slowly move it over to the right side. If something is stuck under the black guide plate, this may work it loose.

hey im tuval from israel,
first of all im sorry about my english :)
and now to the point.......
look, if you know where the feeding wheel its good (like elastic material over this wheel) , now take a"nail cleaner" (aceton)
and clean this wheel (the elastic thing), i did thet and the problem is gone!!!
after the cleanning send 15-20 empty doc to print (remember - empty, dont use you ink - you dont have to - save money), if all the paper is out from the printer,
you fix that.

Hello there ok Generally when this happens, something has fallen into the printer, or a piece of paper has been jammed in there.

First step, remove the ink cartridge, and turn the printer upside down and gently shake it, see if anything comes out.

If nothing goes, or you can't hear anything rattling around, get a piece of cardstock paper (60lb or heavier) and gently push this through the printer, to see if it will help push out what might be stuck in there.

And gave the rode that the ink slides on a good clean and maybe a bit oil on cloth and wipe the rod with it.

I have a s405 interpret stating I have a paper jam. I have went through and cleaned everything and there is no paper jam anywhere that i can see. What do I do next?


There could be something blocking the paper path. Try to get a flashlight and check if there are any foreign objects inside the printer. If you can turn the printer upside down with the scanner cover open, try to do that and shake the printer. If there are foreign objects inside, it should fall off.

Leading cause of paper jams is debris/foreign objects that accidentally fell into the paper feed area. Please follow steps below to fix the problem:


1. Remove the sheets of paper from the feeder.

2. Grab a flashlight and look inside the feeder for any debris or foreign objects.

3. If you're willing and physically able, you may also turn the printer over. Any debris should just freely roll out from the feeder.

4. If feeder is clear, place the printer back on the table, open the printer cover and remove the cartridges.

5. Check the cartridge area for any obstructions/debris in the cartridge carrier's path or the paper path.

6. If cartridge area is clear, close the cover.

7. Rebrick (pull out power supply, black box where the power cord is plugged in at the back of the printer, and put it back after 30 seconds).

8. When the printer turns on, reinsert the cartridges and load some paper. Try to print again.

It could be a printer driver issue. Please follow the steps below to fix the problem.
First, clear the print queue from any stuck print jobs. You can do the steps mention - going to Services and stop the print spooler, delete the files in the spooler folder and then restart the service.
Second, delete the existing Lexmark Interpret S405 printer driver. On your computer, go to Start menu > Programs > Lexmark > Uninstall. After the uninstall process, reboot your pc when prompted.
Third, visit the Lexmark website to download and reinstall the Lexmark Interpret S405 printer driver. Select the version of your Windows operating system. Download and execute the file. Follow the instructions on your computer screen.
After the reinstall process is successful, try to print again to verify that the problem is fixed.

I've got a 4 by 6 photo paper jam in my Lexmark S405 all-in-one printer.


Please follow the steps below to fix the problem:

1. Remove the sheets of paper from the feeder.

2. Try to reach for the paper jam.

3. If paper jam can't be reached, open the printer cover to access the cartridge area. You may be able to get a better hold of the paper jam in the cartridge area.

4. Remove the paper jam and make sure not to tear or leave any torn piece of paper in the printer.



When paper jam is clear, try to print a document again to verify that the problem is fixed.
