Laptop Advent Q200 on start up comes up bright but blank instead of sign in page

BEFORE. Power on. Screen comes up after few seconds saying Advent leading to sign in with password screen. NOW Power on. White or random coloured screen comes up and stays. Sometimes I can get past it by hitting 'return' or on/off button (lightly) couple times. Sometimes just have to re-boot, vicious circle.

Check to see if there are any keys stuck/depressed.

If so, use a paperclip and fit it underneath the key and gently pry the end that is stuck.

Make sure the laptop is off before attempting this.

Observe where the boot process ends and starts over.

In most cases, this will give an indication where the problem occurs.

If the laptop reboots early on in the process, for example when it is detecting the hard drive, chances are good it is a hardware issue.

If the reboot occurs further along in the process, like when it is loading operating system files, there may be an issue with operating system software.

Test all power and data leads that attach to your hard drive SATA

the leads from your (motherboard to your hard drive) make sure they have a secure dust free connections and are not faulty

Make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd have secure connections and are not faulty.

even something as small as faulty fan lead can cause you problems

computers need all of the data and power to travel through every working device and to have an end for a computer to be able work properly.

Motherboard and a hard drive any leads between them will fail before your motherboard or your hard drive check all power and data leads make sure they are securely seated even the cd/dvd drives need to have current go through make sure these devices are working

Check your computer ram modules for secure dust free seating you might even remove the ram modules to check for dirt on modules and in the module socket and cmos battery make sure it has charge and they are dust free and securely seated some motherboards cmos batteries are soldered in

If your computer runs long enough scroll to bottom toolbar (bottom of screen) right click select task manager

applications you will see whats running

if you see anything you dont need running select end now and you might uninstall that specific

program if you or computer does not require it to run and

some unnecessary programs that could be running your computer over its limits causing memory dumps

also under processes see what is ticking over in the background you might have a virus again if you see something you

dont need to be and users you will see who is using your computer

You might need to add more computer ram

if you're not sure if a module is right for your system use the

Crucial Memory Advisor tool for a list of guaranteed compatible modules. first you will need to select the manufacturer from a drop down list then select your product line

from a drop down list then select the model then click find it will take you directly to compatible ram also you will have an option to scan your system

You should always ask for a guarantee on the compatibility of the ram before making any purchase

Might be getting hot

check you CPU make sure its securely seated and has thermal grease

Hope this helps.

SOURCE: Laptop will not start...

2 words: Memory. Motherboard. Check to see if the memory is properly seated by removing the memory cover on the bottom of the laptop. Gently move the two release tabs until the RAM module pops up. Then, gently pull the RAM module out and put it back in, with the gold connectors facing the metal "lip" you just took the module out of. Press down gently on the other end of the module until you feel it click. Replace the cover, and attempt to turn the computer back on.

If this does not work, take the computer in to a service technician or call HP at 1-800-474-6836 and they will do their best to fix the problem.

SOURCE: Laptop Screen goes blank

Are you running on battery or AC? Try using the power cord, remove the battery and see if it continues. I have seen a battery that is on its last legs do some weird things to a computer. Also, check your power management setting. Control panel, power, and set the computer to "always on" just to see if it could be a power management setting. If none of this works, i would back up all your files, and try to reload win xp from scratch.

SOURCE: dell inspiron 1545 won't boot turn on start up

Unseat and reseat the memory in the laptop one stick at a time in each slot one at a time. Turn on the laptop after each reseat of memory.

If that doesn't work then take out the hard drive and then the dvd drive.

Turn the laptop on again and if you still can't get video on the screen then the motherboard is defective and would need to be replaced.

My laptop screen is bright. Brightness control works but no picture. The picture is ok on external monitor. Sometimes a faint and incomplete picture appears on startup but disappears after a few seconds....

This might be a sign of a faulty LCD cable or screen inverter board.
The LCD cable transfers data signal from the motherboard & video card to the LCD screen. It also supplies high voltage DC power to the screen inverter board. The screen inverter board works as a power supply for the backlight lamp mounted inside the LCD screen. It converts low voltage DC power to high voltage AC power needed for the backlight lamp.

Black blank screen Lenovo 3000 N100

You say the laptop all of a sudden flashed off.

How old is the laptop? You may have suffered one of two things? First of all, if the hard drive will not boot back up, even after using the recovery discs, then that would explain it powering off. I have seen this happen on old desktop hard drives.

Next, try to get the transformer or adapter tested. It may not be putting out enough amperage to run the laptop.
