SOURCE: 550 Problem: Dust collecting inside Viewfinder

I had hoped that a few people would check their cameras and posted replies before I contacted Pentax about my dust problem, but nobody has so far. But it's interesting that someone else posted a message this morning that he has some dust inside the lens of his 550. Anyway, this morning Pentax Canada told me that there should definitely be NO dust inside the viewfinder or the rest of the camera for that matter. Although the Viewfinder is "almost sealed" from the rest of the camera, it is not a total seal - which means to me that if dust can get into the viewfinder, it can get into the rest of the camera's interior - including the lens and imaging chip. They have asked me to bring my camera in so they can remove any dust particles that are inside. Basically, they told me that the only place I should see any dust is inside the lens cover, which is meant only as a protective covering rather than a seal from dust. Even then, they claim that any dust on the outer lens would only enter while the camera is being used. That one I don't buy, as the lens cover is very flimsy and can easily be accidentally spread open while the camera is turned off.

SOURCE: Black viewfinder and screen

Most likely it is a mechanical failure such that the reflection mirror does not return back to its normal position, then blocking any light to the viewfinder.

Check this by unmounting the lens. If so, you may have to consider a repair operation.

SOURCE: does dust specks inside lens cause blur in the pictures?

If you have a SLR camera you can take your lense off and clean it.. I do not reccoment canned air because if you do not use it the right way liquid will come out. At best buy they have cleaning kits, and in their kit they have a little brush that you can squeeze regular air and brush off anything on the lense or around the lense, If you have a SLR camera you might have a built in cleaning option... SLR means Single Lense Reflex and this means your lense can come off/interchangable..

SOURCE: Dust inside my d200

The view finder and focusing screen are separate from the CCD sensor. The mirror reflects the image to the view finder until you take a picture. Then the mirror goes up, the shutter opens to expose the CCD to capture the image.

If you have a lot of dust, you should look into a cleaning kit, or have it professionally cleaned. This will show up on your images as white and/or black specks.

SOURCE: Internal dust speck on Canon A720is in same upper right corner

If dust is in the camera, it must be opened. I suggest not doing this yourself. Lookup a Canon dealer in your region and ask for support.

What do I do if my instamax mini 8 has all the setting lights flashing and the red light on the viewfinder on?

Had the same problem and discovered the motor driving the mechanism was not properly aligned. Remove the film. Take the back off the camera by removing all the screws you can see plus one under the cover where the film exits and 2 in the battery compartment. Loosen or remove the 2 screws holding the motor. The motor is located just down from the viewfinder, on top of the push button to take a picture. Turn the camera on and take a picture. The motor and gears should work, Let it run through its cycle and tighten the screws when the motor is in the proper position for smooth operation. I had to use 2 screws from the camera body to get the motor to stay in the proper position. ( i used the ones from the battery compartment)
camera now works as it should.

I took a self portrait with my fuji instax mini 7s but when the film came out, it was just white. I waited a few more minutes but it still didn't have the picture i took. What's wrong?

It comes out white cause you just took the picture. It takes a few moments to "develop" the picture that will be on the card. If you don't see nothing maybe the lens was covered...but it most likely be black as in something was on the card and developed.

How to known if there is nothing wrong just by looking at the fuji instax mini25

You do it the same way you make sure there's nothing wrong with a used car just by looking at it.
The only way to show that a camera works correctly is to take some pictures with it. Even then that doesn't show that there's nothing wrong with it, just that some things do work correctly.
