Sounds like your tracking screw needs adjustment, located right beside the knob used for tightening after adjusting the tension on the blade. Allen wrench required. Turning right pushes out and turning left pulls it in. A little is a lot when adjusting this screw. Always turn the blade in the same direction as the cut while adjusting.

I have a similar problem. The only way I can keep the blade on is to tighten that adjustment screw where it rides on the back edge of the upper right and lower right wheel.

The lower left wheel seems to ride toward the front of the wheel, so I added a washer behind it. I don't like that solution as the manual doesn't show a washer there originally. I even wondered if that lower left wheel should be reversed, but I can't tell by the manual or the parts list. I bought this on Craigslist and it worked great til the blade broke. I replaced the blade, then the rubber on the wheels, then the Left Handed screw on the lower left wheel. Should have just bought a new one I guess, but too far in to quit now.

Would love any more insight as to a solution to getting the blade to ride in the middle of all wheels.

SOURCE: My 16" Delta band saw blade is drifting how can I fix it?

The blade guides are not intended to prevent your blade from drifting they are there to ensure proper blade path while cutting forces are being applied. There is a tracking adjustment for the upper wheel. Unplug the saw. Start with light blade tension. Turn the upper wheel by hand while adjusting the tracking knob. When the tracking is close set proper blade tension and check tracking again. You can make fine adjustments to tracking with the machine running.

Was the blade custom made or did it come in a box? A lot of these guys cut and weld blades, you could have easily gotten one too big. Run a tape around it and see what it measures, If it is 56 1/8, something is wrong with one of your wheels. Grab a hold of your wheels and see if the bearings are shot. Check out the tightener, make sure it is moving up and down.

SOURCE: I inherited a Delta model

Hi,

I think you will find that you have a bad bearing in the wheel(s)....the first hint is when you look your tool up in a site like this and then on the right it has popular parts and the second one listed is the bearings...

First thing I would do is pull the wheels off and check the bearings...

What makes a delta 28-243F 14" band saw blade keep coming off?

The most common is wheel misaligment. The top wheel has an adjusting screw or the equivalent somewhere, and you can turn that to align the blade to the center of the wheels.
Second most common is guide problems. There are some guides that are supposed to hold the blade "just right" above and maybe below the table where you are cutting These must be set to support the blade in it's correct position as you are cutting through the material you are cutting.
3rd problem is a saw blade that has lost it's tension from being
" worn out ".
Be blessed.

The blade on my delta 28-276 keeps riding off the bottom tire

The blade on a band saw stays on the wheels because they are aligned in a way to keep it there. Several things can be wrong to make the alignment off enough that the blade won't stay on. Check the condition of the tire and that the wheel isn't bent. Then check that the bearings and lower drive shaft are not damaged. Another remote possibility is a bent frame that throws the alignment out of wack.

I have a 28-560 can not tighten blade, new blade 82 and new rubber on wheels blade rubbs against switchs

Then you either need a blade shorter than 82" or the blade that you think is 82" is actually longer than that. It is also possible that the new tires you put on are a little thinner than the ones you took off.

Hi,
Sounds like it could be quite a few different things. My suggestion is to go to you tube and look at Band Saw setup. I haved viewed the one from the wood whisper and it covers set up in detail, there are also other videos that may help.

Sounds like a setup problem - wheels, tires, guides, and even blade tension can cause this.

Does the blade track true when turning top wheel by hand?(unplugged of course)
Is the blade tension correct?
Are the tires in good shape?
Are the guides and back up bearings set correctly?

I hope this will get you headed in the right direction.

Unplug the machine, gain access to the two wheels. On the back of the machine you should have a tilt adjustment knob. Manually turn the wheels in the direction of the cut and at the same turn adjust the tilt knob on the back of the machine. This should solve the problem.
