SOURCE: i cannot access my desktop

As you can see the cursor and also the task manager, I would recommend you to check if there are any programs running in the Applications tab of Task Manager.

If you find any application running, select that application and click on End Task.

If there are no applications running in Task Manager, we will have to check with Processes tab.

Click on Processes tab and if you find any unknow process that is not windows process or system process, select that process and click on End Process to end the process.

The windows processes have the Username as SYSTEM. Even the Local Service or similar other Services needs to be running and should not be ended.

The other process with a different name have to be checked and if you feel that any unknown process is running you can end it.

Also click on Shut down menu in Task Manager and select Restart or Shutdown option and check if your laptop starts normally without the blank screen.

When the unknown process are stopped the system would normally start without the blankscreen.

You normally face this issues when the system does not shutdown properly or due to problem with startup files.

Following the steps mentioned earlier may help you in resolving your issue.

I can not get the cruiser to appear when i open the program on my Acer desktop computer. How can I get the cruiser to appear

Is the cursor the only thing not showing up on the Acer Desktop? Are the icons there?

If only the cursor is missing it sounds like you have an infection.

Try booting up in safe mode to see if the cursor appears. Turn off the computer then hit the power button to turn it back on and immediately start hitting the F8 key repeatedly until you see Safe Mode. Select Safe Mode and let it boot up. Safe mode will look different to you. The screen will be darker and the icons bigger, but this is normal. Once the desktop appears see if you are still having the problem.

If the problem still exists, turn it off again, then hit the power button to turn it back on and immediately start hitting the F8 key until you see Safe Mode. Scroll down and select SAFE MODE WITH NETWORKING. Safe Mode With Networking will provide you with internet connectivity. Open your internet browser and download and install Malwarebytes then run a QUICK SCAN.

Go to and in the search box type:"Download cnet Malwarebytes" (without the quotes). Download andinstall malwarebytes from the sites download.cnet/malwarebytes. When thesite opens up click on the Green Download button on the left. Do notclick the Red Download button, that's junk. When it finishes installing the GuiInterface will open up with an offer to Accept a Trial Version orDecline. CLICK DECLINE you want the totally free version. Run aQUICK SCAN. As it scans, if it finds infections the number will be inred. When it finishes scanning, click SHOW RESULTS. A notepad textdocument will open up showing you the results. You can close the textdocument and go back to the Gui Interface where you will click REMOVE SELECTEDRESULTS. The objects will already be selected for you. When itfinishes removing the objects click ok and it will sometimes reboot yourmachine.

Need instructions to use the computer

Computers are omnipresent in most industries and jobs. Knowing how to use a computer is a necessary skill for almost anyone, regardless of your career. Computers are tools, and as with any tool, the best way to learn how to use them is to start with the basics

Most computers have a GUI (Graphical User Interface) that allows you to interact easily with the computer and software programs installed in it. The best way is with a hand-held device called a "mouse." Computer mice can come in many different shapes and designs, but most are oval-shaped with one or two buttons on top. Moving the mouse moves a corresponding cursor to pinpoint your location on the computer screen. With the cursor, you can operate most programs and use most files in the computer. Practice moving the mouse around to interact with the computer.
When you turn on a computer, it should boot into an operating system and present you with a view of the "desktop" displayed on the computer screen. Icons for the programs on your computer are visible on the desktop. The icons usually start in the upper left of the screen and are listed alphabetically. There is also usually a bar along the bottom of the screen called a task bar for performing certain functions.
One of the most important basic skills is how to click correctly using your mouse. PC mice have two buttons, right and left. The left one is used to act on something or move something, and the right button is used to open a menu with more information about things in your GUI. Try clicking on an icon on your desktop. If you left-click on it, it will select the icon; a right-click will make a menu appear. To open a program or file you will need to double-click with the left button. Double-clicking means clicking very quickly twice. Do this only to open programs or files. A single click will select files.
The other standard way to interact with your computer is with a keyboard. The letter layout is similar to that of a typewriter, but there are many more buttons. The most useful ones are the "backspace," "ctrl," space bar, and "shift" keys. The "backspace" key moves the cursor back one space when you are typing. The space bar creates a space. The "shift" key will make an uppercase letter if you hold it down while typing. The "ctrl" button is useful in many operational shortcuts.
One of the most popular things to do with a computer is go onto the Internet. Your computer may have this already set up, and if so there should be a browser installed. The three most popular browsers are Internet Explorer (IE), FireFox and Safari. There is probably an icon on your desktop for the browser. IE's icon looks like a blue cursive 'e', Firefox's is a blue globe encircled by a red fox, and Safari's looks like a compass. Double-click on the icon to open the browser. Near the top will be a long, white box called the location bar. This is where you type in the the address of a website. Then hit "enter" to navigate to the site.
Shortcuts make using computers much easier. Here are a couple.
When you have a file selected (it will light up or have a blue background), press the "ctrl" and the "c" key at the same time to make a copy of the file. When you want to put the copied material somewhere, press the "ctrl" button and the "v" key to paste the copy. This also works inside word processing programs to copy words or sentences.
In Windows, hit "ctrl," "alt" and "delete" at the same time to bring up a task manager, which will tell you what programs are running or which ones may be hung up and "not responding."

Hi bunieljaypee

First right click on the Avast! icon, bottom right of the screen near the clock > open avast! user interface > fix > OK > restart computer > float mouse arrow/cursor (no clicking) > avast! Antivirus: your system is secured

If this has not resolved the problem:

Start Control Panel > Add or remove programs > highlight avast! antivirus free home edition > remove all components of the program, including all quarantined files > Apply > OK > restart computer.

Launch internet browser > > support > Free Antivirus > Download product > select "save" download option (to save the avast! setup files on your desktop in case you have a future need for them) > download latest version of Avast! antivirus Free Home Edition > double click Avast! icon on the computer's desktop > install the program, carefully selected and deselecting your preferred options > restart computer > > float mouse arrow/cursor (no clicking) > avast! Antivirus: your system is secured.

Launch internet browser > > support > Free antivirus > register to get licence > complete the personal information inform, selecting "home" use > submit > navigate to your e-mail account > open e-mail inbox > open avast e-mail > highlight, right click and copy the code in the avast e-mail > right click on orange avast icon bottom right > registration information > right click and paste the code into the "insert registration code" box > OK > restart computer.

Everything should be fine after this.

I hope this helps.

I have a dell c521 desktop I bought it from a rental place I do not have a reboot disc I've called dell suport they were no help is there any keyboard configureations to get this rebooted

***Using the Start Menu
  • Press a Windows key (the ones with the Windows symbol on as shown right), this will open up the Start Menu.
  • Use the cursor keys (the ones with arrows on) to highlight 'Turn off Computer' and press Enter to select it
  • A dialog box will open. Use the cursor keys to to highlight 'Shutdown computer', 'Turn off' or whatever your version of Windows says, and press Enter again.

***Using the 'three finger salute'
Hold down Ctrl and Alt, and press Delete.
Windows 2000 and XP Home Edition users will be presented with a dialog box with buttons on:
  • · Use the cursor keys to select the 'Shut Down' button and use Enter to select it.
  • · Select 'Shut down' from the list using the cursor keys and press Enter one more time.

In other versions of Windows the Task Manager will open:
  • · Hold down Alt and press U to open the 'Shut Down' menu.
  • · Use the cursor keys to highlight 'Turn Off' and press Enter.

***Hit Alt F4 'till you can't any more
The final method of shutting down that I will explain here is to hold down the Alt key and press F4 repeatedly. This will close every application that is open on Windows and eventually will close Windows itself. You may be asked if you want to save files by some programs, if so use the cursor keys and Enter to get past these dialog boxes.
