You didn't give much info to work with, your HP Model? Is there a switch on the computer? In the Tray Notification Area there is a icon, right click . Are you connecting to a wireless access point? Secured? Need more info to give a informed solution.

SOURCE: laptop says "wireless hardware not

Hi

i believe that when looking at the screen
look at the very bottom right hand side
then look just below the screen on the very top bar of the keyboard
on the right hand side you may see a push key with a picture of what looks like a small satallite
push once and wait a few seconds and it should enable and then show a blue light
push again and it should disable

many thanks

Make sure you have the correct drivers installed for the correct hardware version.
NOTE: Older hardware version may not be compatible with current Windows.

I turned my laptop on and the wireless connection wont work i keeps saying that i need to turn on the wireless capability but it is already on

often on laptops there is a HARDWARE / PHYSICAL switch, however ther is also often a software / bios switch also,

depending on the model of your laptop, there are different ways to switch this. usually it is Fct F2 the related function key should have a mini picture of a radio mast on it.

either that or you can enter BIOS /setup on boot and change the setting there.

good luck

I can´t turn on wireless on my HP Pavillion dv9000.what I should to do to turn it on?

Is this working well before? Do you think your wireless adapter is installed and is working properly?

If it is so, then just turn ON your wifi radio receiver by holding down the FN key on your keyboard and pressing a corresponding FUNCTION Key. Look for the function key (F1 to F12) with the wifi radio wave icon on it like ))) or ((( ))). Example, if F10 has that wifi icon, then hold down FN and press F10 to turn your wifi ON or OFF.

Wireless adapter radio

When your computer is switched on, the WiFi radio is almost always transmitting or receiving signals. In certain situations, as in an airplane, signals from the radio may cause interference. Use the following methods if you need to disable the radio and use your notebook without emitting radio signals.
Use the Optional Computer Radio On or Off Switch

If your computer has an external switch installed, use it to switch the WiFi radio on or off. See the computer manufacturer for more information about this switch. If you have Intel® PROSet/Wireless installed, the current state of the radio displays in the Intel PROSet/Wireless main window and on the Taskbar.

Use Intel PROSet/Wireless to Switch the WiFi Radio On or Off

From Intel PROSet/Wireless, the WiFi radio can be switched on or off. The status icon on Intel PROSet/Wireless displays the current state of the radio.

To start Intel® PROSet/Wireless, use one of the following methods:
  • Click Start > Programs > Intel PROSet Wireless > WiFi Connection Utility.
  • Right-click the Taskbar icon prosettaskbaricon1.jpg located in the lower right corner of your Windows* Desktop to open the Taskbar menu. Click Configure WiFi.
  • Double-click the Taskbar icon to open Intel PROSet/Wireless.
Switch the WiFi Radio On or Off from the Taskbar Icon

To switch the WiFi radio on or off, click the Taskbar icon image1_ipswtaskbaricon.jpg and select WiFi On or WiFi Off.

How to use the Device Manager to Disable the WiFi Radio

The WiFi radio can be disabled (made non-functional) from the Windows* Device Manager.

Note: If you disabled the WiFi radio from Windows*, then you must use Windows to turn the radio on. You cannot use a hardware switch or Intel PROSet/Wireless to enable the radio again.

Windows* XP
  1. From your desktop, right-click My Computer.
  2. Click Properties.
  3. Click Hardware.
  4. Click Device Manager.
  5. Double-click Network adapters and expand the selection by clicking the Plus symbol.
  6. Right-click the installed WiFi adapter.
  7. Choose Disable from the menu.
  8. Click OK.
Windows Vista*
  1. Use Control Panel > Mobile PC > Adjust commonly used mobility settings (if you use Classic View, select Control Panel > Power Options.
  2. Click Turn Wireless Off .
