Missing boot manager and blue on everything

Hi, i have a problem with my notebook. I cannot boot up,i just get a blue screen with the message MISSING BOOTMGR Press ctlr+alt+del to restart all the time.Hdd is recognised in the bios as the 1st boot device and the cd/dvd drive as the 2nd boot device.I also cannot boot from the cd/dvd drive or external cd/dvd drive as nothing shows on the screen except MISSING BOOTMGR.Samsung recovery 4 cannot do a complete restore,as an error extracting files and a quick restore cannot find drive or partition. On the diagnostic screen it it says pxe-e61 media test failure,pxe-mof exiting pxe rom, then bootmgr is missing, press ctrl+alt+del to restart,i have even disabled the internal lan in setup. There's also the same message above in safe mode.I know it's a lot to ask, but i would be very grateful if you could help me with this problem as i miss using the notebook.Thank you for your time.

SOURCE: HP 1000 mini-netbook bootmgr compressed--no cd/dvd hard drive--

Why all these clueless suggestions? I came here looking for help, but it appears I'll be solving my own problem and lend a hand. First attach something bootable via USB like you already know. Change boot order and boot from some kind of XP install disk. That's where I'm at right now. I'm now in the recovery console which gives me a command line. I had JUST READ somewhere the comand line commands to restore the boot manager that we just compressed.
Hold on....OK ! Problem fixed.
Step by step:
1)Get external CD reader and plug into USB
2)Boot Mini hit F10 or F12, whatever it says to change boot order
3)Reboot and you'll see you now have option to change boot order on bootup.
4)Boot to some kind of XP start disk(stupid me never even looked at HP's recovery disk yet - I didn't want to go there!)
5)Let the startup program run til it stops asking you to select an option, and hit R for recovery console
6)You'll want option 1 for c:/windows and type your password when asked
6)type fixboot then enter
7)It will happily inform you that your boot record is repaired
There may be some warnings or statements in between. You're desperate - agree to whatever they say! ;-)
8)reboot
9)Don't worry, be happy
If you can't stand that you now have that message booting up every time and it looks weird, RIGHT click my computer, properties, advanced, startup and recovery settings, and edit ....change default operating system from ** to Microsoft Windows XPHome etc."
click edit and for good measure delete where it has WINDOWS="" as an operating system. Don't mess with this if you're not sure.
10)Now be happy!

Haveing problems with hp notebook 1100 boot mgr missing error while initializing NIC

Hi There,
I'm having trouble understanding what you mean by this - are you attempting to boot from LAN? Are you able to boot into windows at all?
What it sounds like is that your computer is either missing a boot manager, or you've assigned (in the bios) LAN boot as the priority boot device.
If that's the case, you can change the boot device priority back to internal hard disk in your BIOS (pressing F2 or F10 at startup splash screen)
If you're missing a boot manager for a windows installation, you can insert your windows installation disk and select "repair an existing installation" to repair your boot manager

I have an aspire one D260 with xp and no recovery CD - got message file is missing \windows\system32\config\system

Hi the Aspire One has a preinstalled partition in your HDD, in order for you to reload. You need to Boot up your machine and immediately hold down the Alt key and continuously tab the F10 key, and this process should take you to eRecovery management console, but be warned this process will wipe out everything on your machine.

Hi,
It happens mostly when the boot file is missing hence you need to perform the recovery.
As it is a Compaq notebook it must have the D:/drive partition for the recovery manager which contain the image of your Windows.
You can try to access that by tapping F11 (or F10) while booting computer.
It will load the recovery manager and you can perform the recovery to reload the windows.it will give you the option to backup your personal data select that option and backup your data on Cd or external Hard drive.
This should resolve your issue.

Acer 5315 will not start up windows

check the BIOS setup screen, when you get the ACER screen press F2 or F10 or the DEL or END or ESC key one of those will get you into the bIOS SETUP. Once there revise the boot order, make sure the CD is first to boot then HDD. Also review to see if the BIOS recosgnized the HDD. the symptom you are describing may be a bad HDD.

File CI.d11 missing

I would recommend popping in your Vista CD, and running a windows repair option. if you're getting a blue screen on boot, it's probably the core integretiy module that's been messed with.First make sure you can boot off of the DVD

If it's not booting beyond the BIOS (a bunch of black screens typically with white text), I might recommend getting a copy of your BIOS software and reflash it. You'd need to find out what BIOS you have first and if it's a prebuilt, you should probbably check the manufacturers website and try and find out.
