Question about Creative Labs Sound Blaster Live! 24-bit External External Sound System

1 Answer

I have newly installed creative sound blaster USB - bought it so that i can use it to record karaoke -for which stereo mix recording mode needs to be enabled. But am seeing only 2 modes for SB ; line-in & Wave/MIDI/CD - am able to record either mic output or playback - not both. The purchase is totally useless for me if i cant fix this. Pl help.

Having problems recording and playing back tascam dc-02 cf

I'm assuming you are plugging the left and right outputs from the karaoke machine into input A and B of the Tascam to record the stereo output of the Karioke. The Tascam works with mono only (you recreate the stereo mix at mixdown or when bouncing mono tracks together with the panning set). Therefore you should be assigning inputs A and B separately. You could press assign A and then the record button above track 1 and then press assign B and the record button above track 2. Then arm tracks 1 and 2 (by pressing record above each). When you then press play and record together you'll record input A onto track 1 and input B onto track 2.

Hope this helps.

Explanaition:
This delay you are experiencing is called latency. All equipment or signal processing unit introduces some latency even if extremely low.
Computer tends to be a lot worse than outboard gear.

Solution:
Look for Asio4All, this little driver will help you improve your audio input latency. And remember, the smaller the buffer size the lower latency you get.

Unable to use Stereo mix recording mode

This is a block at the sound card drivers, most vendors have removed the mixer option on the drivers causing this issue. Contact creative and ask them for a patch or fix to resolve this issue. Your system and card is working as designed with the provided driver / software.
