Try and find out what the manufacturer and model of the camera is and search the manufacturer's site or the internet for Windows 8 drivers. There is not much else you can do. The notebook was designed for Windows 7 and there are not very many Windows 8 hardware device drivers available.
have you tried a drive app like driver magician there are a few out there that are free to download just make sure you type full or complete when looking for them as a lot of the time you get trail 1z that only do half the job or avg pc tune up isn't to bad at finding drivers to hope this was helpful
Try Manycam and see if it works with Unbuntu. Go to www.google.com and in the search box type: "download cnet" (without the quotes) and go to their site. Look down on the left and you will see a gray box that says find software. Type in: "Manycam" (without the quotes) and go download and install it. It's absolutely free, no trial period and it comes with application and I think driver. Give it a try. Be sure not to accept any buggy stuff that it will ask you during the install.
Try a system restore from the point closest to the time before the last successful use of the web cam. Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools>System Restore>(enter). This will bring up a window/wizard. You may have to check the box close to the bottom left, "Show more restore points" to find the date you need. Let me know if this fails to solve your problem.
I have just bought the same Laptop, when windows Vista is started the webcam doesn't work. By pressing the keys FN + F9 the webcam will be activated (you have to do this every time you start your laptop)
1. Press start button.
2. In the "serch programs and files" tab typen in youcam. This will open
up the webcam.
3. Once it is opened it will create a temporary icon on the task bar at
the bottom of you desktop.
4. Click on this icon and you will have an option to pin it to the
program to the taskbar, select this option and you will be able to
easily start the launch of the program at any time.
Note: I really do not understand when Medion have not put direction for
the webcam in the instruction manual!!!!!
