SOURCE: Canon MP520 can print but not scan

I had the same problem. The all-in-one driver download doesn't include the stuff you need for the scanner. Go to this link (canon), click "OSX" on the dropdown list for what os you're using, then click "mp520sosxsd1391ej7.dmg" under "MP520 series Scanner Driver Ver. 13.9.1 (Mac OS X 10.2/10.3/10.4/10.5/10.6)." It doesn't take long to download and completely fixes the problem.

SOURCE: My Canon MP520 has a 6A80 error and now the

6A80 error is an APP position error caused by the APP motor during the purging operation as the printer starts up. Canon states that one of three components is likely to have failed, the sheet feed unit, purge unit or logic board. All of these will be almost impossible to get as a spare part. The only thing worth trying is an EEPROM reset that can be done using the service manual. Get a copy here: http://www.tradebit.com/filedetail.php/4981053-canon-pixma-mp520-printer-service-manual

SOURCE: how to print landscape wirh

You have to set landscape in the printer settings on the computer not just the printer. It varies depending on which program you are using. For example microsoft word you would hit format->page settings landscape.

Print head not installed

You may have a defective print head.
When you lift up the lid does the head move to the center?
If so do the ink cartridges light up?
If it moves to the center and no lights you need a new head.

CANON PIXMA MP520 NOT PRINTING BLUE

Inkjet printers need to be used frequently to prevent ink drying out and blocking the print head nozzles.
If the print head cleaning maintenance routine does not clear the blockages, then print head needs replacing, but it may be expensive.
It may be more cost effective to buy a later model and better printer than replace the print head.

Cannon MP520 when printing documents there are lines through some of the text. I have changed the ink cartridge 2 times! What should I do?

The issue is not with the ink cartridge but with the actual print heads. In most (almost all) Canon ink jet prints/multi functions the prints heads are separate from the ink cartridge.
The print head is what guides he ink onto the page, if they become dirty or clogged then you will get lines through images and text or very poor print outs.
You can clean the print heads by using the software that came with the printer and there are some other ways as well.
I tried to paste the instructions from Canons site but they were too long. Use the link below to go to Canon's knowledge base for the MP520 and search for "clean print heads" and follow the instructions that come up.

I tried to use a generic brand ink cartridge in my Canon MP520, which I couldn't get to work. I then gave up on it and installed a genuine canon cartridge, and while the printers says that the ink is full...

you do not say if your printer has it's own print heads or if they are on the cartridge.. if your printer has the print heads then the generic cartridge has probably blocked the heads nosils (cheap ink is NOT the same as the real thing and is usually sub-standard) use your maintenance section on either the printer or it's software on the computer and run head cleaning routine several times and do the occasional test print to see if it improves... hopefully you have not damaged the print head
