Question about Mitsubishi WS-65907 65" Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

I have a Mitsubishi WS-65907 that won't turn on

When you click power and green lite comes on for sec and then goes off. I've read other posts on net and done the test to confirm it has the 2-2 Short Protection/Convergence Error. I don't want to spend the money to pay somebody to fix it as the TV is too old and not worth it. But I'd be interested in fixing myself if I can get the parts really cheap and instructions on how to do it. Any suggestions on how to go about doing that?

Your problem is not shown on schematic, C9A60 (470 pf @ 1000 v) capacitor and check and see if F9A04 & 05 are open. If so then its off to a whole different area. Do you have an email to send Sch.?

Hello.
My name is Russ and I will try to help you.
Code 22 generally mean that you have short on deflection board. In 90% cases it cause by convergence amps go bad and than 2 PICO fuses got open (blown) and TV does not work anymore producing code "22". It is very common issue. Convergence amp IC's are attached to big aluminum radiator in the middle PCB and their part number starts with letters"STK". PICO fuses looks like green resistors and they are soldered into the board. Two of them are open as for now.
I would recommend you not to mess with TV (especially if you don't have above average soldering skills). TV is old and everything inside there is very fragile. Professional repair should cost you $250-$300.
If this is too much money for you to spend for repair - just get rid of it and save for new set.
Best regards.
Russ.

I have a WS-65907 tv, it wont turn on

Mitsubishi self check: MOST OF THESE SETS HAVE A SELF DIAGNOSTIC:

UNPLUG TV AND THEN PLUG BACK IN---TURN ON---GREEN POWER LIGHT COMES ON FOR A MOMENT AND GOES OFF.

PRESS AND HOLD "device"(input) and "menu" buttons on front of tv for at least 5 seconds and then release both together.

Watch for power light to blink in a sequence:

1 blink-then 2 blinks-------no error

2 blink-then 1 blink-------X-ray protection

2 blink-then 2 blink-------SHORT PROTECTION*******

2 blink-then 3 blink---------deflection circuit problem

2 blink-then 4 blink---------vertical circuit problem

******2, then 2 is most common---usually means one of the fuses that protect the Convergence IC or IC's is blown---set will detect no voltage to convergence IC and shut down.

SET WILL REPEAT BLINK ERROR CODE UP TO 5 TIMES AND THEN TO GET IT TO REPEAT MORE YOU HAVE TO UNPLUG SET AND TRY TO TURN ON AGAIN.

IF IT IS 2 AND THEN 2---USUALLY
CONVERGENCE CIRCUIT PROBLEM

let me know what you find--hope that you find 2 blinks, a pause and two blinks--this is the most common and easiest to fix.

65" mitsubishi rear projection tv won't turn

IF model number posted is correct and green power light comes on for a few seconds and then goes off:
On front of set press and hold both the Menu and Input (device) buttons at the same time for at least five seconds and release both buttons.

Power light will then blink a two digit error code like 2 blinks, 2 blinks, a pause and repeat it several times.

Let me know what error code is found and I will tell you what it means.

Won't come on

The power board has failed and will need to be repaired or replaced. you can remove this board and, replace individual parts and save a lot of money. You will be inspecting for swollen capacitors and resistors. also, look for discolorations on the board itself.

I had the same problem with my WS65907. If you know a little about electronics and how to solder, you can fix this yourself. First you're going to have to carefully remove the PC board from the TV. There are four "pico" fuses located by the regulator. check the ohms across each one. I found two of mine were "open". I replaced them for $1.49 Ea.

Mitsubishi WS-65313 - Will not turn on

The most common failure are the two convergence integrated circuits part # 267P173010. The two pico fuses may be open as well, which come from the power supply and provide +24 volts and -24 volts.
