Test your PSU power supply unit or replace it if your power supply units fan is not working your PSU is faulty

http://pcsupport.about.com/od/toolsofthetrade/f/powersupplytest.htm

One bad lead can cause a computer to continue on a cycle of restarting or to shutdown or fail to detect/ boot up a computer hard drive

Test all leads that attach to your hard drive power and data cables IDE SATA

the leads from your MOTHERBOARD TO YOUR HARD DRIVE make sure they have a secure dust free connections and are not faulty or just replace them they could be faulty

make sure all leads that are attached to your dvd\cd floppy drives have secure connections and are not faulty or just replace them they could be faulty

computers need power and data to travel through every working device to continue its cycle and have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error

even something as small as a faulty electrical or fan lead can cause you problems

motherboard and a Hard Drive any leads between them will fail before your motherboard or your hard drive if its a flat ribbon 40 pin type IDE replace it this will be the first to fail.

Check all electrical power input and extensions make sure they are securely seated even the cd/dvd floppy drives need to have current go through make sure these drives are working

also check the Cmos battery and computer RAM modules make sure they are securely seated with no dust built up or in the sockets on some motherboards cmos batteries are soldered in.

Check you CPU central processing unit make sure its securely seated and has thermal paste it might be getting to hot the thermal paste will help disperse the heat

Thermal compound is a sticky paste that is placed directly onto the CPU.

http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/article/Thermal-Compound-Roundup-February-2012/1490

Allowing for a more direct heat transfer between the CPU and HEAT SINK and preventing air gaps from forming between the CPU and heat sink.

Hope this helps.

Acer aspire one- froze last night while browsing on the internet and turned off. is working ok now, but could this be a problem????? it is a ZG5. so far its been working ok, but i am concerned that this is...

Unless you actuallt get the blue screen of death, don't worry too much....you may have just had too much going on for the ram and processor to handle along with the web traffic in and out of the computer...sometimes causes things to slow down to a crawl and even freeze. Sometimes they work themselves out and sometimes they dont and you have to reset the system.

Bought a Acer 9301 awsmi and its not switching

No, system will not stop working.

SATA and IDE drives have different connectors, so if motherboard is made to take SATA - it takes SATA, if IDE - then it takes IDE.

Also IDE drives are past. SATA drives are much better and works faster.

So there is nothing to worry about.

Acer Aspire 5050 won't boot at all

Yes, it's not the hard drive.

More than likely it's your motherboard.

There's not much you can do besides trying to boot the computer without the battery, and removing and reinstalling the memory.

Hopefully you'll get lucky!

Acer One Screen Won't Come On--

Hey,

if this computer is still under warranty you can contact acer to get a replacement or repair for it.

If you are outside of warranty there are a few things we can try, one unplug the battery and ac adapter for 15 minutes, plug in the ac power and try starting up.

if that doesn't work, call acer and confirm your warranty. if you don't have warranty we can try other things. if you do have warranty and the repair is free, use it.

Let me know if you need anything else.

Thanks,
Ekse

Acer 7720 will not boot

Do you want to try and see if a 'Linux LiveCD' boots? This is the way I test if the computer works. You burn this CD to a disk, and then boot off of it when you're computer starts. I will not modify anything on your computer as long as you go to 'Try Ubuntu with out installing'

http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/download

Don't worry, I'm not trying to get you to install anything, just see if it boots into the 'live environment' (means you are running it off of the cd) If this works, that means that it is only your windows installation is messed up, and a reinstallation of windows should work fine with a Windows install CD NOT the recovery cd.

Network connection

It probably stops working due to the heat. The solder connection to the motherboard may not be up to par. To get round it I would purchase a PCI network card and use that instead. If the mouse bothers you, you can always unplug it, but it is something that you dont need to worry about.
