I have a Lincoln welder 255 square wave an I can't regulate the amperage

weld current output regulation on this machine is usually accomplished by voltage supplied across a 50 milli volt shunt that is usually connected at one end of the main rectifier, if this shunt fails, or if the connections are loose or damaged, you will not have current control, your control board may also have some issues
Upon removing the machine covers, if there is no easily seen damage, it will be best to seek out and take it to an LASF for repair.

Lincoln electric ac/dc arc welder will not arc

Check the dial indicator. Sometimes if someone changes the amps while welding, there will be a break in the coil. It will work at a different setting as long as you are away from the break.

Ave a power mate 225 amp 240 volt welder that wont arc

Sounds to me like the Power Controller has gone bad. These are a real tricky, dangerous, things to fix yourself, I recommend that you call the service rep, for Power Mate, and cut your losses.

Square Wave Question

Square Wave refers to the shape of the voltage cycle in a welding arc. In an AC wave, a typical sinusoidal or sine wave, changes the voltage from positive to negative gradually, although many times a second. This means the voltage will not be consistent and at times will actually go through zero. Square Wave, on the other hand, changes the voltage from positive to negative almost instantly, making for a much smoother and more stable welding arc. This is particularly important when welding aluminum and when considering aspects like cleaning and penetrating action.
